VW Amarok 2023 Model Maintains Its Ford Powertrain
Here comes the all new Amarok pickup truck ready for the right hand drive markets
This all new Amarok truck is very much like the previous Amarok, where it is a shared product with the Ford Ranger. Yes, underneath this VW is a Ford powertrain.
Well, VW UK recently announced the UK specifications and pricing for the new 2023 Amarok, is this the year Volkswagen finally introduces this pickup truck to the Malaysian market?
Anyway, in the UK, the Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck is available in four trim levels, specifically Life, Style, PanAmericana and Aventura and it starts from £33,000 (RM186,715). Clearly, this price puts the premium pickup truck slightly above the competition, but if the brand can figure out a way to bring it down, it could sell well.
The new 2023 Volkswagen Amarok also features horizontal upper radiator grille crossbars up front, while the rear end sports new C-shaped taillights. The new model is also now longer in length and wheelbase, making for more room, while shorter overhangs improve the pickup’s off road capabilities.
On top of that, the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok also adds new technology, including 30 driver assistance features and more refinement and reliability while the entry level, Life, trim, focuses on comfort and features 17-inch Combra silver alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a 10-inch infotainment screen and a rear-view camera system for safety.
The Volkswagen Amarok Style adds a more aesthetic design, as well as 18-inch Amadora silver alloy wheels, a Chrome styling bar and black side steps with a chrome insert. It also includes an upgraded 12-inch central infotainment screen with navigation, as well as additional safety features, such as an Area View 360° camera.
The Volkswagen Amarok PanAmericana, on the other hand, focuses on off-roading and features a rear locking differential, underride guard, a comfort suspension system, upgraded 18-inch black Amadora alloy wheels, and the premium bumper with black ‘X’ insert for added style.
The range-topping Volkswagen Amarok Aventura stands out even more with 21-inch Varberg silver alloy wheels, chrome-plated exterior mirrors and door handles and a premium bumper with silver ‘X’ insert.
The asking price in England for the 2.0L Diesel (similar to the Wildtrak version) starts from £34,055 ex VAT which is about RM192,000 even before we add in the local transport, permit and duties.
So looks like this Amarok, like the previous version, will NOT be launched in Malaysia or even ASEAN.
