Yuki Tsunoda & Daniel Ricciardo Confirmed At AlphaTauri For 2024

This will hopefully end the revolving door of drivers that AlphaTauri have experienced this year.  While the Formula 1 driver market this year may not be as mad as previous years, there were nevertheless still a few unknowns as to who will get seats in what for the following season. And perhaps the team facing the most headache with regards to choosing their drivers was Scuderia AlphaTauri, who had seen four bums in its two cars since the beginning of this season.  The Italian outfit however has since recently announced that it would be sticking with its original post-summer break…

Honda Integrates US Racing Arm Into Its Global Motorsports Outfit

This latest move will see its American motorsports team contribute to the wider Honda F1 program.   Honda has always had a rather interesting structure when it comes to its motorsports endeavours. The automaker after all had its main Japanese team which ran most of its international motorcycle and later F1 program, while it simultaneously also had a totally distinct outfit State-side that focused only on automotive championships in the North American continent.  Rather surprisingly though for this disparate organisational structure, both the Japanese-based Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and American Honda Performance Development (HPD) have been rather successful at their…

Nissan Made A Portable Power Source From Old Leaf Batteries

Batteries from older Nissan Leafs are now given a new lease of life as a portable power source.  In what is perhaps the ultimate form of recycling, Nissan has recently launched a new portable power source that utilises reclaimed modules from old first-generation Leaf EVs.  Developed in collaboration with JVCKenwood Corp and 4REnergy, this new portable electricity supply is quoted to weigh 14.4 kg and is made from two modules reclaimed from the Japanese electric hatchback. Details regarding the exact technical specification of this battery pack is unfortunately not publicly disclosed, but the original specifications of the Leaf’s battery should…

A ban that was originally set to come into effect in 2030, this 5-year delay comes amid a wider series of postponement of key green policies previously announced by the government.   In the announcement of the delay that was initially timetabled for Friday but brought forward due to a series of leaks, Rishi Sunak appeared…

Toyota Has Showcased Its New Cutting Edge EV Production Line

This new production line is touted by Toyota to cut EV manufacturing time from hours to minutes.  While it is certainly true that Toyota might be on the back foot currently in the EV space, its current deficit will likely not remain so for very much longer. That is as apart from having not too long ago announced some rather ambitious goals on producing solid state drive batteries by 2027, the Japanese manufacturer today has also shown off its new next-generation battery electric vehicle production line. And boy, what an incredible bit of tech it is… Getting straight into the…

Mercedes-Benz Introduces New Agency Retail Model For Malaysia

This new agency model apparently should give its customers more convenience and better prices.   Mercedes-Benz has recently announced that it is implementing what it dubs as ‘Retail of the Future’ agency model over here. Malaysia will be the 10th country in which this new retail model will be implemented by the German automaker, and the first in Southeast Asia.  Now for those who are unsure what this agency model means, the gist of it is for Mercedes-Benz to bypass the dealerships and essentially now be selling cars directly to the customer. And as alluded to by the press release…

Volvo To Stop Producing Diesel-Powered Cars By Early 2024

The little D badge on the back of Volvo models will very soon be a relic of the past.  With Volvo having rather quietly removed its diesel offerings from most of its lineup worldwide, it was already prophesied that the Swedish automaker will be ceasing the production of its oil-burners in the not too distant future. And lo and behold, it was recently announced by the Scandinavian car company that its last diesel-powered car will be built in just a few short months from now. Announced during the Climate Week NYC, Volvo cites for its decision to axe the diesel…

A Prius Slammed On BBS Is The Epitome Of Eco-Conscious Cool

How to make a Prius cool? Simple, slam it into the weeds then put some BBS alloys on it.  While most have perhaps long forgotten already, but there was a time back in the mid 2000s when owning a Prius was actually kinda cool. This was after all the period when the world began to lean heavily into the eco-culture (again), and to be seen driving around in this hybrid Toyota was nearly as cool as driving around in a Lamborghini.   Over the years however, one too many holier-than-thou hippy hogging the fast lane in their Prius has somewhat…

Ford Unveils New PHEV Ranger With 45 km EV-Only Range

More impressive perhaps is for the Ranger PHEV to not be compromised on its payload and towing capability.  While the world has begun to slowly embrace the idea of an all-electric pickup truck, the idea of a hybrid powertrain really hasn’t been explored much yet, especially in the mid-sized segment. Though this is soon about to change, as Ford has recently unveiled a new plug-in hybrid variant of its Ranger.  Full technical details of this new PHEV powertrain for the Ranger is unfortunately still shrouded in mystery, with Ford having not revealed the exact specifications of the electric motor and…
