UMW Toyota Records Strong Sales Locally In April 2021

A total of 9,280 Toyota and Lexus cars found new homes in the month of April 2021.

2021 looks to continue being a strong sales year for UMW Toyota (UMWT). That is because following on from news of its strong quarterly sales in the first three months of the year, the local distributor for Toyota and Lexus in Malaysia has recently announced that it had shifted another 9,280 units in the month of April too.

Adding to the tally of some 17,000 cars shifted within the first quarter of 2021, UMWT has credited much of its continued sales momentum over here to the recent local launches of the Corolla Cross and Harrier SUVs. Both of which proved spectacularly popular with the Malaysian motorists, who snapped up the existing allocations in an amazingly short amount of time.

That is not to say though that the other Toyota models didn’t pull their own weight in the sales department in recent time. In fact, a not insignificant credit to the surge in sales locally has also been attributed ‘the timely introduction’ of numerous revised models over the past year, which have since been able ‘to firmly establish new benchmarks in the various vehicle segments by enhanced technological and safety features’.

Additionally, some of the sales have come from customers taking advantage of the current savings afforded by the SST exemption that has been extended till the 30th of June. “The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an extremely challenging year for both manufacturers and consumers, but measures put in place by the Government has successfully restored and strengthened consumer purchasing power,” said Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota, Akio Takeyama.

“The new generation of Toyota vehicles retains all the hallmarks of being reliable, robust, economical and practical but brings forward new levels of comfort, performance and driving enjoyment that resonates strongly with the evolving requirements of a new generation of consumers,” he added.

Now to those who are currently interested in purchasing a Toyota, there is an ongoing Countless Rewards promotional campaign in which ‘customers will continue to enjoy enormous SST savings on both locally-assembled and imported models’ until the 30th of June. Additional savings can also be had through the Toyota Service Savers servicing plans and UMWT’s EZ Beli financing scheme that are currently offered.

As for where to buy (or maintain) one’s new Toyota meanwhile, UMWT is proud to announce the recent opening of a new 2S Sales and Service Centre in Cheras (PDC Automobile). Two new 3S Sales, Service and Spare Parts Centres have also popped up in the month of April, led by Mutiara Motorsport in Johor Bahru and HLT Temerloh in Kemaman, Terengganu.

In conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations too, UMWT has released its annual Hari Raya Festive Film this week. Titled “Umi Pembaris”, it is said to honour the ‘timeless lessons on family values, culture and tradition that we keep ever so closely to our hearts even in this age of change, transformation and modernisation’.

PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd., the sole importer, distributor and manufacturer of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, today reported a strong and positive month of April in which new vehicle sales achieved 9,280 units for Toyota and Lexus.

Growth was largely driven by restored consumer purchasing confidence, an increasingly growing demand for new models; as well as consumers rallying to take advantage of savings with the exemption of Sales & Service Taxes that has been extended to 30 June.

The performance in the month of April was greatly buoyed by the recently launched Corolla Cross and Harrier as Toyota continued to satisfy an increasingly growing demand for a new generation of adventurous consumers.

We will continue our assertive pursuit on digitally-led avenues and serve our customers better on all platforms, moving forward,” he added.
