BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport Arrives In Malaysia

The same BMW 7-Series underneath, just now with a slightly sportier(-looking) flair to it.

BMW Malaysia has recently added a new variant to its 7-Series lineup. Dubbed 740Le xDrive M Sport, it essentially is a slightly sportier(-looking) version of existing sole trim level currently on offer.

Starting at the front, the M Sport variant brings with it a more aggressive-looking nose courtesy of larger air intakes situated on either side of the sleeker front bumper. This is further complemented by an M-specific kidney grille finished in satirised aluminium, which is flanked on either side by BMW Laser Lights with High Beam Assistant.

Moving down the side meanwhile, this sportier-looking variant gains a new striking rocker panel that sits in between the 19-inch Double-Spoke style M light alloy wheels on either end. M Sport brakes with blue painted callipers also make an appearance on this tarted up 7-Series, as does various BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line elements and M-specific chrome exhaust tips.

Now continuing on inside the 740Le xDrive M Sport, the ‘Fineline’ Fine Wood Trim in Black with High Gloss Metal Effect complete with the BMW Individual Alcantara Anthracite headliner is perhaps the major change within made to this particular variant over the standard car. Other enhancements made include an M Sport steering wheel, M designation door sill finishers and an M-specific vehicle key.

As for the rest of the interior kit available on this M Sport 7-er, it is pretty much the same as its non-M Sport counterpart. This in turn means the standard inclusion of luxury accoutrements like ambient lighting, 4-zone automatic climate control, 16-Speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, electrically-powered roller sun-blinds for the rear side windows, soft-close doors, a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof and a Comfort Access hands-free tailgate.

A full suite of tech kit naturally comes as standard on this 7-Series too, which includes a fully-digital 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen. BMW Gesture Control, a heads-up display as well as various active safety aids like Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus are also among the standard equipment, not to mention the twin 10-inch touchscreens mounted on the rear of the front seats.

Much like its standard 740Le X Drive sibling, the M Sport variant features the same PHEV powertrain that comprises of a 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six working together with an electric motor which outputs a combined 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmissions that drives all four wheels, this large luxury sedan manages the century sprint in just 5.1 seconds and maxes out at an electronically limited 250 km/h.

To those not actively trying to achieve those figures, fuel efficiency is claimed to be 2.8 litres per 100 km of travel, while carbon emission is measured at a combined 65 g/km. Relying solely on the battery, drivers should also get a WLTP-rated 46 km of zero emissions driving up to 140 km/h.

Locally-assembled in four exterior colours (Mineral White, Carbon Black Metallic, Donington Grey, and Bernina Grey with Amber effect) paired with two interior Nappa leather upholstery combinations (Black or Cognac), this sportier-looking 740Le xDrive M Sport is now available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide starting 8th May 2021 priced at RM 591,503.05. Due to a scheduled website maintenance however, online bookings of RM 5,000 for this large SUV at the BMW Shop Online will only be available starting from the 11th of May 2021.
