It was bound to happen sooner than later seeing the popularity of the Hiace in Thailand with multiple seats and the demand for Alphard by families looking for communal travel. There was a MPV missing in between the two and now Toyota releases this 10 seat luxury model.
Toyota has just introduced the Majesty MPV to the Thai market. It’s called Majesty and it does carry enough luxury to carry one. This MPV will not only cater to the business user but also for families with many children and the in-laws in tow. The main feature of the Majesty is its 10 passenger seats where only the Kia Carnival and the Hyundai Starex are its real rivals. The vans or MPVs that comes from China are still behind in luxury feel and touch that is needed in this segment.
This new van comes from the Toyota Hiace. It measures 5,265 x 1,950 x 1,990 x 3,210 mm in length, width, height and wheelbase. This Majesty is about a one meter longer than the current Toyota Alphard.
Using a completely new body over the Hiace chassis that has chrome detailing used abundantly.
There are four rows providing 10 passenger seats with leather upholstery, wooden inserts and nine airbags, including some full-length cabin seats in the center. The most luxurious place to sit is the second row.
Under the bonnet is single engine offering for now. It is a four-cylinder turbo diesel with a volume of 2.8 liters that delivers 163hp and 420Nm of torque. This engine is the same engine used in the Hiace model, except that it is coupled here with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
