Ford have been dropping huge bombs globally since the beginning of the year. They started with their new releases in China, in the Ford Equator Sport and Ford Mondeo, while also recently announcing the news about the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor. Well, it looks like they have also got a present for us Malaysians, as SDAC-Ford have just announced a new special edition Ford Ranger XLT Plus. Bookings for the new pickup truck are already open at an official price of RM136,888.
Just like all the other Ranger models, this price comes with Ford’s new five-year manufacturer’s warranty or 160,000km, whichever comes first. The Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition is offered in five color options which include Absolute Black, Aluminium Metallic, Arctic White, Lightning Blue and Meteor Grey.
Display units for the Ranger XLT Plus will only come to Ford showrooms nationwide on the 10th of March 2022. In the meantime, SDAC-Ford are giving the public a chance to preview the new vehicle at a showcase. It will be held on the Ground Floor, Centre Court at Queensbay Mall in Penang where one unit of the special edition will be on preview from 24 to 27 February 2022.
The new Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition will be powered by a 2.0-liter single-turbo engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers a power output of 180PS and 420Nm of torque. This is the same engine as one of the three options offered in the standard Ford Ranger; however, Ford have changed the diesel engine to a petrol engine. This might be due to the upcoming diesel bans around the world to reduce C02 emissions.
What makes the Ranger XLT Plus a special edition vehicle is its enhanced exterior and interior features. The refreshed exterior makes a bold, forward-looking and powerful statement with a new Ford Block-Letter front grille design, with more pronounced fender flares and redesigned sports bars.
In terms of interior features, we have new illuminated front scuff plates with the Ranger logo. The cabin comes with a built-in digital video recorder (DVR) that comes with various functions such as high-definition (HD) recording, wide-angle viewing, night view recording, a built-in polarised filter, a Mobile App connect via hotspot, and up to 32GB memory for recordings of life adventures or as a safety feature. Like standard, it is also compatible with both Apple IOS and Android devices.
Additionally, Ford Ranger owners can currently enjoy a new programme by SDAC-Ford called ‘Ford Ranger Getaways’ for a chance to experience the ‘Ranger Life’. It includes a wide range of experiences that go from fun city outings to wild outdoor getaways.
