Porsche Macan T, new lightweight Touring version of the SUV
Porsche have just taken its most successful SUV and taken it to the next level, bringing us the Porsche Macan T. According to Porsche, the T stands for Touring and it identifies models that offer an especially authentic driving experience thanks to is upgraded equipment and precise tuning.
The first of the Touring models started with the 911 T back in 1968. The new Macan T stays true to it ancestors like the 911T and 718T by bringing you a more equipment while being more lightweight, ideal for a sporty driving style.
A two-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine drives the Macan T forward while giving an output of 265PS and 400Nm of torque. Its mated with a fast-switching seven-speed dual clutch transmission with an all-wheel drive system. This allows the car to reach 0 to 100km/h in 6.2 seconds, while having a top speed of 232km/h.
Compared to the engines of the Macan S and GTS models, the Macan T has a powertrain that weighs 58.8kg less.
The new Macan T is the first Porsche model to features steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. It had its body lowered by 15mm, more rigid anti-roll bars on the front axle and the car’s chassis tuning getting optimised. This creates the perfect suspension for the vehicle, resulting in very responsive steering behaviour and agile handling.
Porsche have also made changes to the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) to driver demands. It comes with optional features such as adaptive air suspension with PASM and lowering the body by another 10mm and the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system.
The Macan T features exclusive design elements in Agate Grey Metallic on the front, flank and rear to differentiate it between other Macan models. High gloss black sports tailpipes and side window trims as standard features as well as a black ‘Macan T’ logo. Massive 20-inch Macan S wheels that come in dark titanium are also included.
Inside, the sporty look continues with the adjustable heated sports seats which feature exclusive upholstery in black leather come in the Sport-Tex Stripe pattern with an embossed Porsche crest on the headrest.
Other features include, a multifunction GT heated sports steering wheel in Race-Tex with carbon-trim and ioniser, black aluminium door entry guards with Macan T logo and a 10.9-inch touchscreen with online navigation and a fully networked Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.
