Scania Earns Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Ratings

Scania’s R-series and P-series trucks have received five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP’s Safer Trucks programme. Both ranges also received the organisation’s CitySafe award for features designed to improve safety in urban environments.
In Malaysia, Scania has made several safety systems standard across its vehicles. These include Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Electronic Braking System (EBS) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Traction Control.
Scania R-Series Scores 96% in Collision Avoidance
Euro NCAP assessed the R-series 4×2 tractor and R-series 6×2 rigid truck. Both achieved five stars in the haulage assessment.
The R-series performed strongly in the Safe Driving and Collision Avoidance categories, scoring 96% in Collision Avoidance.
The tested trucks featured Speed Sign Cruise Control (SSCC) and Curve Speed Cruise Control (CSCC). These systems work alongside Safe Stop Assist (SSA) to support safer driving.
Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB) and the Vulnerable Road User Brake System (VRUBS) also contributed to the results. Optional camera monitor systems improved front-corner visibility and reduced driver workload.
The R-series also received the CitySafe award, recognising its safety performance in urban environments.

P-Series Achieves 100% in VRUBS Testing
The P-series 4×2 distribution and 6×2 utility trucks also earned five-star ratings. The range received the highest mark in Euro NCAP’s CitySafe assessment for heavy vehicles.
Its low cab position and corner-eye camera provide drivers with better visibility of vulnerable road users.
The P-series achieved an overall score of 93% in Collision Avoidance. Its systems cover frontal collision mitigation, lane departure prevention and vulnerable road user protection.
The Vulnerable Road User Brake Side (VRUBS) system scored 100% in testing. It addresses risks to cyclists during side-turning manoeuvres.
Safety Features Standardised in Malaysia
Scania Malaysia continues to focus on improving vehicle safety through additional standard equipment. The company has made AEB, ESP, EBS with ABS, and Traction Control standard features.
Scania also offers customers solutions aimed at improving fuel efficiency and operational efficiency while supporting profitability.
The latest Euro NCAP results highlight the safety performance of both truck ranges, while Scania Malaysia continues to expand its focus on driver assistance and protection for other road users.
