Mitsubishi Has Just Delivered Its 40,000th Xpander In Malaysia

The lucky 40,000th Malaysian Xpander owner was rewarded with a travel voucher worth RM 10,000.

While it may not be a vehicle that many would think of on any given day, the Mitsubishi Xpander has nevertheless been quite the quietly popular seller in Malaysia. And since its local launch just 4 years ago, the tri-diamond marque has recently announced that it has recently delivered the 40,000th unit of this MPV over here.

The lucky owner of the 40,000th Xpander delivered in Malaysia was Puan Zaty Ewany, a teacher and a mother of five who hails from Selising Pasir Puteh, Kelantan. As part of the one-month promotional campaign that was previously launched to mark this local delivery milestone, the lucky lady was rewarded with a travel voucher worth RM 10,000.

Speaking at the handover event that took place at RIF Auto Sdn. Bhd, Shinya Ikeda, CEO of MMM said, “When we launched the XPANDER in late 2020, our vision was to create a vehicle that not only meets the diverse needs of our customers but also enriches our owner’s lifestyle. I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to our loyal customers, MMM’s business partners, and media friends whose trust and support have been the cornerstone of our success.”

Only one version of the Xpander is currently available locally thus far, with it to retail from RM 100,980. This 7-seater from Mitsubishi is to be Malaysia’s No. 1 non-national MPV in Malaysia for the first half of this year, with it having continually held on to this title since at least 2023.

The continued sales success over here of the Xpander has certainly contributed quite a lot to Mitsubishi’s ability in comfortably keeping its fifth-place spot on the annual local sales rankings too, with this being especially true when given that the tri-diamond marque is only has two cars in its product lineup over here right now.

There are currently rumours that an updated Xpander will finally be landing locally (alongside the all-new Triton pickup and XForce compact crossover) rather soon, bringing with it a more aggressive exterior aesthetic and a slightly more fuel-efficient engine. A heavily revised cabin is also to be found within this refreshed Mitsubishi MPV, featuring a floating nine-inch infotainment touchscreen, an electric hand brake and digital air-con controls.
