Maserati Grecale makes its global debut

Maserati’s latest SUV, the Grecale has finally made its global premiere. This new model has been long waited for especially after a delayed release date which was originally set for November last year as well as a teaser for the vehicle which didn’t show for much. It was developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena and produced at Maserati’s Cassino plant.

The all-new Maserati Grecale will be available in three variants at launch – GT, Modena and Trofeo. These three variants will all feature different engines with the GT and Modena having mild-hybrid engines while the Trofeo bearing a full petrol engine while a fully electric variant will be available in the Grecale Folgore. As a limited edition, the Grecale will also be available in the PrimaSerie Launch Edition.

The Grecale GT is powered by a four-cylinder mild hybrid engine that is capable of delivering 300hp: The Modena is powered by a four-cylinder mild hybrid that is slightly stronger, delivering 330hp while the Trofeo is equipped with a high performance 3.0-liter petrol engine capable of 530hp which is based on the Nettuno engine in the MC20. With the Trofeo being the most powerful version, it can go from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 285km/h.

The GT version of the SUV measures in at 4,846 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,901 mm, a height of 1,670 mm, a width of 2,163 mm. It is very similar to its competitor, the Porsche Macan which measures in at a length of 4,681mm, width of 1,923mm and height of 1,624mm. Just like how the Macan is Porsche’s strongest model in terms of sales, Maserati aims to recreate that for themselves with the Grecale.

Inside, the cabin of the SUV features a large 12.3-inch central digital display, which is the largest ever seen in a Maserati as well as another 8.8-inch display for the extra controls and a third for the passengers in the rear. Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system and Maserati Connect infotainment provide the best experience possible with their features. The Sonus Faber 3D sound system also provides premium level audio.

Additional features include the extraordinary handling provided by the Maserati Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM) system, various drive modes (comfort, GT, sport, corsa and off-road), sound alerts for various features and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
