When the Staria MPV was launched in October 2021 with a selling price of RM358,888 it was at the time the most expensive Hyundai vehicle on sale in the country.
Designed to replace the Hyundai Starex MPV which was selling for RM151,888, this Hyundai is FULLY IMPORTED from Korea and this is why it commands a rather high selling price until now.
Yes, here comes a cabin updated Staria and with added seats it gets tagged as a family MPV (bus) and so Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is able to offer Malaysians three variants, Lite, Plus, and Max, with a starting selling price from just RM179,888.00.
Designed for big families and businesses, this 10-seater version, with a 2-3-2-3 seat layout is a multi-purpose vehicle. It has more convenient storage spaces and sliding seats with increased versatility to create your own space for different needs, such as for transport of cargo and sporting equipment, or going on a camping trip.
Its innovative interior space utilisation is made possible by the MPV’s 3,273-mm wheelbase with an overall length of 5,253 mm and width of 1,997 mm. Its overall height of 1,990 mm is optimised for passengers to conveniently enter and exit the vehicle.
The cruise ship-inspired interior delivers an open and unique atmosphere through its innovative design architecture. The vehicle’s lower belt-lines and panoramic windows create a spacious, stimulating environment for all passengers.
This sense of spaciousness is inspired by traditional Korean ‘hanok’ architecture which allows passengers to feel as if the outside scenes are an extension of the vehicle’s interior.
The fully digital cockpit, designed with the driver in mind, features a 10.25-inch instrument cluster display and an 8-inch large touchscreen for the navigation system in the centre console. The Max variant also comes equipped with a 360-surround view camera for the convenience of parking.

The 10-seater Staria is a diesel-powered 2.2 CRDi engine that is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
It delivers an estimated power output of 177PS and 431Nm of torque. Its high-efficiency, air-cooled turbocharger has an improved compressor and turbine wheel performance for better low-speed torque performance.
In case you were wondering, the Starex was powered by a 2,497cc diesel engine paired with a 5-speed automatic gearbox that delivered 170bhp and 441Nm of torque.
The Staria has the highest level of vehicle safety. All seats come with three-point seat belts and headrests as well as ISOFIX ready seats on the second row. It is equipped with Hyundai Smartsense, active safety and driving assistance technologies.
