Honda Accord Set for Major Design Refresh, Passport SUV Also Due for Updates

Honda is preparing a major design refresh for the Accord sedan, with changes expected to make the model look substantially different. The company is also planning further updates for the Passport SUV, including possible changes to its stance and suspension.

According to Automotive News, Gary Robinson, Honda America’s head of product planning, said the updated Accord would feel like a new model. He described the planned changes as substantial, although Honda has not revealed specific details.

Sources cited by the publication indicate that the refreshed sedan could receive slimmer headlights, new taillights, an updated grille and revised rear styling. Its design is reportedly inspired in part by Honda’s wedge-shaped 0 Series electric sedan.

The changes would address the current Accord’s relatively restrained exterior design. The updated model is expected to adopt a more modern appearance while retaining the sedan’s focus on driving.

Accord Could Receive a Larger Infotainment Screen

The interior is also expected to receive updates. According to the report, the refreshed Accord could feature a larger infotainment screen while retaining its driver-focused cabin layout.

Honda is likely to carry over the current powertrain options without major mechanical changes. However, the company could introduce its S+ Shift System, which debuted in the new Prelude. Honda has not confirmed whether the system will feature in the updated Accord.

The sedan’s refresh comes as Honda continues to serve buyers who prefer traditional four-door models. The report suggests that the updated design will place greater emphasis on sporty styling, reflecting the preferences of customers who still choose sedans.

The updated Accord is expected to reach dealerships in the second half of 2027. Honda has not yet disclosed its full specifications or confirmed the final design changes.

Honda Passport May Get a More Aggressive Stance

Honda is also reportedly preparing changes for the Passport, which received a redesigned exterior for the 2026 model year. The latest version adopted a boxier and more rugged appearance, with the off-road-focused TrailSport accounting for a majority of sales, according to the report.

Sources told Automotive News that Honda plans to give the SUV a more aggressive stance. Possible changes include additional ride height and suspension revisions, although the company has not confirmed the details.

The Passport’s rugged styling appears to be a key part of its appeal, particularly for buyers interested in the TrailSport variant. The reported updates would build on that direction rather than represent a complete redesign.

Honda has not provided a launch timeline for the revised Passport. For now, the Accord’s mid-cycle refresh is expected to arrive first, with its dealership launch scheduled for the second half of 2027.

Both updates remain subject to further details from Honda. The company has yet to confirm the final designs, equipment changes or mechanical specifications for either model.
