SAIC Motor Malaysia has launched the locally assembled MG ZS in Malaysia, offering turbocharged petrol and hybrid powertrains. The MG ZS 1.5 Turbo starts at RM103,900, while the MG ZS Hybrid+ costs RM109,900. Both prices exclude insurance and apply to Peninsular Malaysia.
Customers who book either variant can receive RM3,000 in early-bird rewards and five years of free maintenance. Until 31 December 2026, the Turbo variant also comes with a special financing package through Hong Leong Bank and Bank Rakyat. Hybrid+ buyers receive an additional RM3,000 year-end reward.
The MG ZS measures 4,430mm long and 1,818mm wide. Exterior features include LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. Buyers can choose from Flare Red, Silver, Andes Grey and York White.
Inside, the SUV gets an all-black cabin with perforated leatherette seats and ventilation for both front seats. Equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The cabin also has 30 storage compartments.
Boot capacity stands at 443 litres, expanding to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded. Both variants offer Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes.
Petrol and Hybrid Powertrains
The MG ZS 1.5 Turbo uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 170PS and 275Nm. It pairs with an eight-speed CVT and records a claimed combined fuel consumption of 6.9 litres per 100km. A 55-litre fuel tank supports longer journeys.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ combines a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with a 100kW electric motor and a 1.83kWh NMC battery. Its combined output reaches 215PS and 465Nm, paired with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
The Hybrid+ accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 8.7 seconds and consumes a claimed 4.7 litres per 100km. MG also claims a driving range of up to 870km from its 41-litre fuel tank. Under suitable conditions, the SUV can drive in electric-only mode at speeds of up to 80km/h.’
Safety, Connectivity and Warranty
The MG ZS has a five-star ANCAP safety rating and comes with MG PILOT, offering 16 driver assistance functions. MG iSMART also allows owners to access selected vehicle functions remotely through a smartphone.
The first 3,000 customers receive a seven-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty. The hybrid battery comes with an eight-year, 160,000km warranty.
Test-drive units are available at MG showrooms nationwide. The MG ZS Hybrid+ will also appear at the MG roadshow at 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 29 October to 2 November 2026, between 10am and 10pm.
