BYD Malaysia and Gentari will explore deploying BYD Flash Charging infrastructure in Malaysia following a memorandum of understanding signed at BYD’s global headquarters in Shenzhen.
The partnership aims to strengthen Malaysia’s high-power EV charging network. Both companies will assess suitable locations and supporting infrastructure, including PETRONAS stations and major intercity routes.
The initial rollout will focus on selected DENZA luxury showrooms, giving compatible vehicles early access to the technology. The companies will also explore installations at highway rest and service areas as the network expands.
BYD Flash Charging is designed for vehicles equipped with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery. The DENZA Z9GT is among the first models in Malaysia to support the technology.
The Z9GT features a 122.49kWh battery and a 1,000V high-voltage architecture. With BYD Flash Charging, it can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
Existing BYD models will also be compatible with the new charging infrastructure. However, their maximum charging speeds will depend on each vehicle’s capabilities.
DENZA Z9GT Gets New Fjord Green Colour
DENZA Malaysia has introduced Fjord Green as a new exterior colour for the Z9GT. It joins the existing Rime Gold and Obsidian Black options and is now available to view at DENZA showrooms nationwide.
More than 100 units of the Z9GT have been delivered to Malaysian customers since its launch. New batches are also arriving to meet customer demand.
Priced at RM358,800, the Z9GT uses the e3 Platform and produces 850kW (1,156PS). DENZA claims it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds. The model also features Compass Turn and Crab Walk functions.
Fjord Green buyers can choose between Perg Beige, an all-black interior with suede seats and yellow stitching, or Red Velvet. Interior combinations for the Rime Gold and Obsidian Black exterior colours also include beige, black and red options, depending on the selected configuration.
The Z9GT is available at DENZA showrooms in Balakong, Glenmarie, KLCC, KL North, Old Klang Road, Melaka, Penang and Skudai.
The planned charging network could make long-distance travel more convenient for compatible EVs as BYD Malaysia and Gentari continue assessing deployment locations.
