Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease Program Debuts Locally
Lease a Grand Starex today from Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors for as low as RM 2,800 a month.
Despite the Toyota Alphard being the default luxury MPV of choice over here for many Malaysians, there are nevertheless some who prefer something even larger and with more seating capacity than what is offered by the Japanese people mover. Hence perhaps the reason why there are also plenty of the 11-seater Hyundai Grand Starex minivans roaming around the streets of Malaysia too.
Quite often however these South Korean MPVs are bought for use by corporations as a business vehicle, and companies typically don’t really like to deal the hassle of maintaining and eventually selling off its fleet. So to that end therefore, the newly launched Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease Programme could well serve as an answer to this age-old problem.
Run in partnership with Sime Darby Rent A Car (SDRAC), this new program aims in enabling prospective buyers of a Grand Starex — be it a company or an individual — to ‘enjoy the ownership experience of a new vehicle’ without having to deal with things like the loan application, long-term maintenance cost, road tax and insurance, resale value or the headache of selling on said vehicle.
In fact, Hyundai-Sime Darby Malaysia (HSDM) claims that all customers need to do upon signing up to this deal is to put down a two-month deposit and a booking fee of RM500 up front, and then just pay the ensuing agreed fixed monthly payment until the lease is up. That is because much like the increasing number of car subscription services popping up these days, all soft costs like the insurance and maintenance of this leased Grand Starex is to be covered under this program.
Now in speaking more about the monthly payments meanwhile, rates starts from as low as RM 2,800 for a base-spec Grand Starex Standard Corporate variant, for a 5-year leasing programme with mileage cap of 15,000 km per annum. Those who foresee travelling greater distances with their Hyundai MPVs can also opt to extend the mileage cap up to 30,000 km or 40,000 km per annum, with a monthly payment rising to RM3,250 and RM3,550 respectively.
There is the option too to go for the three other higher end Grand Starex trim levels too (Executive Plus without bodykits, Executive Plus with bodykits and Executive Prime), but the monthly repayment rates naturally do climb along with each successively posher variant. Regardless of variant however, HSDM claims that customers who join this plan will enjoy ‘significant cost savings of approximately RM17,000 for a five-year ownership’ period.
Other benefits of signing up to the Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease Programme includes a lower deposit fee compared to a downpayment, as well as less tax payable throughout the duration of the lease. HSDM will also throw in a car replacement benefit of three days every year, not to mention too the option to renew the programme with a brand-new unit at the end of the leasing period.
It remains to be seen however whether at the end of the 5-year program this already 14-year old design will still be soldiering on in Malaysia, or will HSDM finally have launched the funky new Staria locally by then. Anyhow, those interested in signing up to the Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease Programme can do so through the link here.
