Denza Has Already Sold Over 300,000 D9 MPVs Worldwide

The Denza D9 currently accounts for nearly 60% of all premium NEV MPVs sold in China.

Here’s a big milestone for a big MPV: Denza’s D9 has just hit 300,000 units sold. This achievement comes in just a little over two years since its initial debut in its home market, a remarkable pace by any measure in the automotive industry.

The D9 has retained its position as the best-selling MPV in China’s market for two consecutive years, commanding nearly 60% of the country’s high-end NEV MPV segment. Such dominance is particularly noteworthy in a category crowded with established players and ambitious newcomers, all vying for the attention of affluent buyers seeking premium people movers.

Analysts who track vehicle-by-vehicle adoption further noted that the D9 has outpaced comparable MPVs in delivery velocity, achieving speeds nearly 50% faster than peer models in the segment. And what makes this even more impressive is that this acceleration occurred even as the broader MPV segment in China reportedly slipped, indicating that this big BYD is actively winning over new buyers rather than simply riding a rising market.

Back in its home market, the D9 is offered in both plug-in hybrid (DM‑i) and battery-electric variants, giving buyers flexibility depending on their charging infrastructure and driving needs. In Malaysia, only the EV version is available. The base Advanced FWD retails at RM 259,000, while the Premium AWD commands RM 309,000.

And speaking of Malaysia, it’s worth noting that this sole Denza model offered locally has already racked up over 900 units since its February launch. Not quite Alphard numbers, but still enough to arguably make the D9 Malaysia’s best-selling luxury all-electric MPV.

Perhaps even more intriguing is how local D9 sales compare to BYD’s M6, as Denza deliveries are nearly exactly half of what BYD has shifted with its own more-family focused MPV. Says something about Malaysia’s upper crust being more willing to give up their Alphards, in place of the M40 giving up their Alzas

Now in getting back to the D9’s trajectory, Denza now places the model at the heart of a broader international push. This premium MPV is slated to be introduced in Europe as part of the spearhead launch of the Denza brand there, signaling that this 300,000-unit milestone is just the beginning.
