Peugeot launches the second-generation Peugeot 2008 in Malaysia

Peugeot has launched the new Peugeot 2008 under its new Malaysian distributor Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd. The 2008, being one of the company’s flagship SUV’s, is now locally assembled at the Stellaris manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah.

Under the bonnet you’ll find a 1.2 liter turbocharged three-cylinder PureTech petrol engine that delivers 130hp and 230Nm of torque. Paired with that is the same standard six-speed automatic transmission from the first generation.

Exterior-wise, the Peugeot 2008 is equipped with LED daytime running lights (DRL), 17-inch Black Onyx and Diamond Cut rims, roof rails, chrome radiator grille, rear parking camera, heated electric foldable wing mirrors, walk away lock and advanced keyless entry.

Inside the cabin, the Peugeot 2008 comes with the well-known Peugeot i-Cockpit that consists of a compact steering wheel, a large digital touchscreen and a new 3D driver instrument cluster. Aside from that, there’s a 7-inch infotainment system that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto as a standard touchscreen display.

Other interior features include single-zone auto climate control, mood lighting, three different driving modes (Normal, Eco and Sport), electric parking brake and high quality and detailed interior materials.

The 2008 isn’t shy of safety features either. It is equipped with standard safety features such as 6 SRS Airbags, Hill Start Assist, and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which includes: Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA).

However, this new model also comes with its new range of safety technologies. The Active Safety Brake, Driver Attention Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist help the driver stay focused on the road by making sure the driver brakes on time and stays in lane. Visiopark 1 is a new feature that makes use of the rear-view cameras to give the driver 180 degrees view of the rear when parking. It pairs with the Blind Spot Monitoring system to allow the driver to reverse safely.

The new Peugeot 2008 features a color palette that includes Amazonite Grey, Pearl White, Nera Black and the model exclusive Orange Fusion. The SUV is priced at RM126,753 and comes with a standard 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty as well as a 3-Years Free Service Maintenance with a mileage 60,000km.
