The Many, Many Cool Cars At Tokyo Auto Salon KL 2024 (Part 1)
Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 is currently ongoing from the 8th to 10th November at MITEC.
Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur has returned in 2024 for its second year, and here are just some of the cooler cars on display that you could witness in the metal if you make your way down to MITEC this weekend!
Editor’s Note: Due to the simply overwhelming amount of cool cars on show, this supposed quick look at what’s on display at Tokyo Auto Salon has since been split into 3 parts. Part 2 is available through this link here, while part 3 could be found by clicking here.
Kicking off with one of the bigger stars at Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 first, this here is the Top Secret R35Gold M24 SPL! And it could actually be yours, for what will likely be an astronomical price of course.
Could this Veilside FFZ400 be Han’s replacement for his RX-7 in the Fast & Furious franchise?
This gold Toyota Supra “allegedly” had one very fast past.
An LS V8 with pipes coming straight out from its hood, what car could be packing such muscle? Why, it is a drift-spec Toyota GT86 of course!
Four generations of Godzilla, all in one pen. R32, R33, R34 and R35.
A Lexus IS300 on airbags kissing the carpet right at the entrance to the convention hall.
The Spoon section of the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024.
Mugen meanwhile were also pretty well-represented too.
Toyota unfortunately only ever made one drop-top example of its 2000GT, but those who want to live out their James Bond You Only Live Twice fantasies could get one of Rocky Auto’s rather faithful 2000GT Open-model replicas.
A hater pipe on a Honda City.
Lambo doors on a Lancer.
Honda Civic Type Rs are a dime a dozen here at Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024, especially the latest FL5 iteration. But did you notice the Honda Motocompacto in the middle?
More Motocompactos! This electric mini motorbike is the spiritual successor to Honda’s Motocompo, which was a mini-bike that was designed to fit in the trunk of its 1980s City hatchback.
This Tesla Model 3 here is proof that the modifying scene will still be healthy even in the upcoming EV era.
A 1962 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. The fins, the teal, the chrome, the size… this is peak Americana Caddy right here!
As to those who prefer a more murdered-out look with their Caddy meanwhile…
This rather clean-looking almost stock first-generation SA22C Mazda RX-7 is certainly a breath of fresh air amid the many wildly modified cars in the show.
And here are more Honda Civic Type Rs. A lot more… In fact, it really did feel like every FL5 ever produced was on display at Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur this year.
Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur is incidentally raffling a car during the event too. No prizes for guessing which model it is…
One is properly mini, while the other is ever so slightly less so.
All seems relatively stock with this Civic EF9, until you get to that drain-pipe of an exhaust poking out of its rear.
Two modern day Japanese icons that hasn’t gotten the mainstream love just yet.
Rally legends in their past life, show queens in their current form.
Wonder if this Astro Boy-themed Porsche 930 911 has any of the comic character’s android superpowers? Fun fact too here, the start of the original run of Astro Boy manga actually precedes the 930 era of 911 by some two decades.
