This Limo Outsold The Maybach & 7-Series COMBINED In China

Over 14,000 of these Maextro S800 luxury limos have been delivered in China in the past six months.
When it comes to luxury sedans, one might assume the Germans would have this segment firmly stitched up. After all, even in China, sales of flagship limousines from brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW have traditionally dominated the upper echelons of the market.
Though it does seem that this status quo is no more, as there apparently is a new top dog limo in the world’s largest car market. And that top dog is apparently the Maextro S800, which incidentally in January 2026 outsold the Mercedes-Maybach and BMW 7-Series COMBINED.

Yes, this relatively unknown-to-the-world Chinese luxury limousine just recorded 2,625 deliveries in its home market during the first month of 2026 alone. By comparison, the BMW 7 Series followed with 1,188 units delivered, while the Maybach-badged S-Class variants managed a comparatively paltry 1,040 units.
What makes this even more remarkable is that January was not a one-off success, as the Maextro S800 has effectively topped the luxury sedan segment priced above 700,000 yuan since its debut in August 2025. And it is worth highlighting that January’s sales figures for this Chinese luxo limo actually represented nearly a 40% month-on-month decline, with it achieving a record tally of 4,376 units in December.

For the sake of statistical pedantry though, it is worth noting that the sales stats do list the S-Class and its more opulent Maybach twin as separate models. This however doesn’t actually make any tangible difference, as the Maextro still outsells the Mercedes even when combined into one total.

Now as for those who are still unfamiliar with this luxury sedan, the first thing to know is that the Maextro brand itself is the result of a joint venture between tech giant Huawei and automaker JAC Motors (who incidentally sells its pickup trucks locally). The S800 is being sold in China through Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) network, which also sell Aito, Stelato, Luxeed, and Saic (Shangjie) vehicles.
As for the S800 itself meanwhile, its understated design hides the fact that it’s actually about 90 mm longer than the current BMW 7 Series. Motivation comes from either a dual- or tri-motor electric setup, backed up by a 1.5-litre petrol range-extending generator.

Unsurprisingly given Huawei’s involvement, the Maextro S800 runs the company’s HarmonyOS infotainment platform and features its ADS 4.0 advanced driver assistance suite. The former is displayed across a trio of large dashboard screens, while the latter is claimed to support assisted driving in complex low-speed urban scenarios, including tight U-turns, blind junctions and narrow streets.
The S800 is available in both five-seat and ultra-luxurious four-seat configurations, with the rear cabin naturally being the highlight. Creature comforts within its wood- and leather-trimmed interior include a 43-speaker audio system with active road-noise cancellation, a Rolls-Royce-style starlight headliner, and rear passenger windows that can be dimmed with a simple hand gesture.

Pricing for the Maextro S800 starts at around 708,000 yuan (RM 400,000), with the flagship variant reaching 1,018,000 yuan (RM 575,000). More than 14,000 units have already found homes since deliveries began in August 2025, with the 10,000th example reportedly delivered to martial arts legend Jet Li.
