Facelifted CKD BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport Now On Sale Locally

This new locally-assembled M Sport variant of BMW’s large X7 SUV is on sale locally for RM 718,800.

After a brief hiatus, BMW Malaysia has recently reintroduced the M Sport trim for its facelifted X7. Arriving in locally-assembled form, this sporty-looking variant will sit alongside the existing Pure Excellence spec of this refreshed large SUV that was introduced earlier on in March.

Now being the M Sport trim, this new X7 variant naturally brings with it a meaner-looking exterior aesthetic relative to its Pure Excellence counterpart, courtesy of its standard M Aerodynamics Package. Up front for instance, this new large BMW SUV nets a more aggressive face thanks to larger black-painted air inlets on its lower apron and similarly enhanced air curtain trim pieces right below its headlights.

Prominently featured too on the snout of this particular trim of X7 is its new BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille, which is touted to be ‘beautifully illuminated by LED fibre optics for a strong visual aura’. 22-inch double-spoke style 913 M bicolour alloy wheels with mixed tyres  and M Sport brakes meanwhile find themselves on all four corners of this large SUV, with the exterior enhancements for this M Sport trim finished off with slightly larger exhaust finishers round its rump.

Moving on inside, the M Sport spec of X7 has been spiced up slightly through the inclusion of an M leather steering wheel, M Headliner Alcantara anthracite and door sills with the M inscription. A new ‘Fineline Black’ fine wood trim with high-gloss metal effect and BMW Individual extended Merino leather upholstery (in Black or Tartufo) is also now standard on this variant, for a finer luxury touch in this higher-end trim of large SUV.

This new higher-end trim further adds the Driving Assistant Professional as standard too. A step up from the Driving Assistant package in the Pure Excellence, this enhanced safety suite brings with it Distance Control with Stop & Go function, along with the Steering and Lane Control Assistants, to enable Level 2 Autonomous Driving capabilities in this large SUV.

The rest of the X7 xDrive40i M Sport’s kit list however remains much the same as its Pure Excellence counterpart. This therefore means for this large German SUV to feature two-axle air suspension and rear wheel steering under the skin, a panoramic roof up top, in addition to ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen running BMW Operating System 8 within.

Similarly, as the xDrive40i in its trim name suggests, all four wheels of the X7 M Sport is to be driven by the same mild-hybrid six-cylinder and 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission powertrain combination as its Pure Excellence sibling. Rated at 380hp and 540 Nm of torque, this large SUV has been quoted to achieve the century sprint in just 5.8 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 250 km/h.

The X7 xDrive40i M Sport is currently on sale for RM718,800 (inclusive of a five-year extended warranty and service package), which makes it RM64,000 more than the xDrive40i Pure Excellence which sells for RM654,800. With the Straight Line Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia however, the large SUV can be yours with monthly instalment plans starting from RM8,322.00 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a seven-year tenure).

In addition to the existing Mineral White Metallic and Black Sapphire Metallic colour options for the Pure Excellence, a variant-exclusive M Brooklyn Grey Metallic will also be available for this new sporty-looking trim.
