Toyota Innova Facelift Now Open For Bookings In Malaysia

All three variants of the refreshed Toyota Innova MPV are now available for bookings from today.

Aside from news of the updated Fortuner that is currently open for booking, UMW Toyota Motor has also announced today that the Innova too is getting an update in Malaysia, and is also currently open for bookings from today. To be available in three trim levels, this new updated Toyota MPV brings with it some interior and exterior enhancements, not to mention some added safety tech.

Starting with the exterior changes, the new Innova features a subtle redesign to its front end with restyled fog lamp clusters and shaper-looking black and chrome grille. This black and chrome trim  from the grille then continues down the side and to the back with chrome door handles, chrome wing mirror housings with integrated turn signals and a redesigned rear garnish on the back door finished in black.

A reprofiled black roof spoiler and lightweight Dark Mica Metallic 17-inch wheels are featured on this Toyota MPV too, but only on the top-spec 2.0 X variant. Also exclusive to this top-spec Innova trim level are new body mouldings and side skirts, which supposedly gives this high-riding MPV a greater semblance to the SUV aesthetic that is all the rage these days.

Moving inside, a 360º Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) now comes as standard on the higher two trim levels of Innova. This new PVM now displays a new 3D view of the vehicles and its surroundings on the 9-inch central infotainment touchscreen, to better aide manoeuvring of this large people mover, especially in tight spaces.

Continuing on the new equipment add-ons in the refreshed Innova, a new USB fast charging port has also been added in the rear compartment of this updated MPV. Toyota Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) is standard too now, thereby increasing the peace-of-mind ownership experience of this locally-assembled people mover.

Speaking of peace of mind, the Innova comes with a whole host of passive safety features, including ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). This particular large Toyota MPV also managed to secure a maximum 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, thanks to the standard 7 airbags and third-row auto-retracting seatbelts.

Standard on the higher two facelifted Innova variants too are Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems. Interestingly though, none of the other Toyota Safety Sense suite of active safety features have yet to make it to this practical people mover yet.

Backed by a five-year unlimited milage warranty, prices for the Innova start at RM 111,622 for the base 2.0 E variant, before rising to RM 121,483 and RM 129,677 for the mid-spec G and top-tier X trim levels respectively. All the prices denoted here are inclusive of the SST sales tax exemption, which since has been extended till the 30th of June 2021.

PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) will soon launch the 2021 Toyota Innova range with updated styling and features as well as additional safety systems being made standard. With effect from today, customers can place bookings for the new Innova which is available in three variants.

The three variants available and the following prices are:

  • Toyota Innova 2.0 X – from RM129,677.00
  • Toyota Innova 2.0 G – from RM121,483.00
  • Toyota Innova 2.0 E – from RM111,622.00

There are six exterior colour choices – Medium Silver Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Phantom Brown, Silver Metallic, Super White II and Bronze Mica Metallic (new). For the Innova 2.0X, there is an additional choice of Crimson Spark Red Metallic.

While retaining the crossover styling and spacious, flexible cabin space, the 2021 Innova comes with cosmetic changes at the front end which give a more refined and clean look. A chrome and black theme is used for the grille with the door mirrors having chrome housings and integrated turn signals (Innova 2.0X and Innova 2.0G). The foglamps and foglamp bezels have also been redesigned and contribute to a bolder appearance.

The Innova 2.0X comes with exclusive styling enhancements such as new wheel arch mouldings for protecting the bodywork, new bodyside mouldings and redesigned side skirts that add a sporty touch.

While the lightweight 17-inch alloy rims of the Innova 2.0X are now in Dark Mica Metallic instead of black, those on the Innova 2.0G get a more dynamic new design. At the rear, the garnish on the back door has been restyled, while the roof spoiler (only for the Innova 2.0X) has been reprofiled for aerodynamic improvements.

The large and bright 9-inch capacitive touchscreen for the infotainment system also serves as a display for the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) which is now standard for the Innova 2.0X and Innova 2.0G. The PVM display has been changed from a 2D view to a 3D view to provide the driver with a better perspective of the vehicle and its surroundings for more precise manoeuvring in tight spaces.

Responding to customer feedback, more charging ports have been added. The front 2 USB ports have been repositioned in the dashboard from the centre console and an additional

USB port has been provided for those in the third row of seats. All the ports have Fast Charging capability for compatible smartphones and other portable devices. Additionally, a wireless charging pad located in the centre console is also available as an option which can be included at the time of booking.

The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems which can help prevent collisions with other vehicles are now standard for the Innova 2.0X and Innova 2.0G. BSM continuously scans the blind zone towards the rear side of the vehicle, alerting the driver of a vehicle nearby. RCTA is useful when reversing out of a parking back as it can detect vehicles approaching from either side and alert the driver of a dangerous situation.

The entire Innova range qualifies for the maximum 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating. All variants are fitted with 7 SRS airbags and every one of the occupants on 3rd rows has a 3-point autoretracting seatbelt. All variants have ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), as well as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

Besides the standard electronic security system, to provide greater peace of mind to owners, UMWT is now installing a Toyota Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) which can track the vehicle’s movements using GPS and GSM technology. In the event that the vehicle is stolen, the VTS Command Centre can determine its location and inform relevant authorities to make recovery faster.

As with most of the models offered by UMWT, there is a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage, subject to terms and conditions stated in the Owner’s Handbook. This will be welcome by owners who clock high mileage each year as they can enjoy peace of mind for the full 5-year period. As with all models distributed by UMW Toyota Motor, aftersales support is readily available throughout the country.

Bookings can be made at all Toyota showrooms nationwide as well as online at build.toyota.com.my. Locations of all showrooms can be found at www.toyota.com.my or by calling the Toyota Freephone at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
