Wearnes Unveils New Land Rover Defender in Singapore

Wearnes Automotive Pte. Ltd. who is the brand guardian for Jaguar cars and also Land Rover has just given Singaporeans more automotive choices before its Malaysian counterpart can.

The New Land Rover Defender has just bee unveiled in Singapore and this is an icon reimagined for the 21st century. Clever, capable and safe for all, and in a category of its own.

Driven by a passion and respect for the original, New Defender delivers transformational breadth of capability. Advanced all-terrain technologies redefine adventure for the 21st century, remaining true to the pioneering spirit that has been a Land Rover hallmark for 71 years.

Instantly recognisable by its distinctive silhouette, the New Defender is equipped with familiar yet re-envisioned Defender trademarks that give the new 4×4 a purposeful upright stance. These include Alpine light windows in the roof, while retaining the side- hinged rear tailgate and externally-mounted spare wheel.

The stripped-back personality of the original Defender has been embraced inside, with an emphasis on simplicity and practicality. A choice of five or six seating configurations are available, allowing the Defender to accommodate six occupants in a vehicle the length of a compact family hatchback.

As technologically advanced as it is durable, the New Defender introduces Land Rover’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system and takes the Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) technology to a new level with its ability to receive remote updates.

A world-class expert off and on-road, the Defender is packed with advanced technologies such as the Configurable Terrain Response and ClearSight Ground View technology which help drivers excel in all terrains – the soft sand of the desert, the freezing tundra of the arctic and everywhere in between.

The New Land Rover Defender will be available in Singapore in the 2nd half of 2020.

Also at the stand is the all New Discovery Sport. This Discovery Sport is the latest addition to the bloodline and pushes the boundaries of the premium compact SUV sector with an enhanced exterior design and transformed interior. New vehicle architecture ensures the fastest-selling Land Rover ever produced is now more efficient, technologically-advanced and versatile than ever, keeping its occupants safe and comfortable in all conditions.

Designed with electrification in mind, the new Premium Transverse Architecture allows for the introduction of a new 48-volt mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) powertrain on Discovery Sport, helping reduce emissions and fuel consumption.

The Discovery Sport’s 5+2 interior features a new infotainment interface with the latest connectivity, plus a more flexible seating arrangement with up to 24 combinations for enhanced versatility, delivering superior interior space and refinement. Making the most of its compact exterior dimensions with a versatile interior that has been enhanced to optimise interior space, the Discovery Sport provides improved small item stowage across all three rows and a 20 percent increase in fuel tank capacity.

The latest Discovery Sport is every inch a Land Rover, combining assured all-terrain handling with all-weather capability, including a wading depth of 600mm, All-Wheel Drive and a second-generation Active Driveline system.

Advanced features such as the ClearSight Rear View Mirror, ClearSight Ground View technology and Terrain Response 2 are also available.
