Perodua D55L Now Open For Bookings In Malaysia
Prices for this Perodua compact crossover range from RM 62,500 to RM 73,400.
Perodua has recently announced that the order books for its long-awaited D55L compact crossover is now open.
Thus far, Perodua has yet to release a whole lot of information regarding this upcoming model. From what has been revealed however, it looks to be much like like the leaked specs that were detailed here prior.
Starting with the big stuff first, the D55L will be available in three variants: X, H and AV. The prices of which are estimated to range from RM 62,500 and RM 73,400, inclusive of the SST exemption.
The other big thing that Perodua is keen to point out on this D55L is that it will be the first model in its lineup to ‘satisfy Level 2 Autonomous Driving standards’. This is courtesy of an improved version of its Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) suite of active driver aids that now can operate up to a higher speed, as well as feature the capability of detecting two-wheeled vehicles.
Going further into the specifics, all variants of the upcoming D55L will feature Lane Departure Warning and Prevention as standard. The top-spec AV trim level however is the only spec within the lineup to get the rest of the goodies like Lane Keep Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Moving onto the powertrain of this Daihatsu Rocky with a Perodua badge on its nose, the D55L is to be the Malaysian automaker’s first model to come with a turbocharger, which is bolted on to a Toyota-derived 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol engine that outputs a total of 98 PS and 140 Nm respectively, with an impressive 18.9 km/L fuel efficiency figure also on the cards for this 980 kg SUV.
Additionally, the D55L will also be the first Perodua to feature a continuously variable transmission in the form of a 7-speed DirectShift DCT with manual mode.
As for exterior specs on this upcoming D55L, Perodua has only officially highlighted that LED headlights are standard across the range, with the higher two variants featuring Adaptive Driving Beam active cornering technology. Nevertheless, the rest of this Malaysian compact crossover should not deviate much style-wise to its rather handsome-looking Japanese counterparts.
Continuing on the subject of the exterior, X and H variants of the D55L are to be available in Glittering Silver, Granite Grey and Cobalt Blue, with the H variant also coming in Pearl Diamond White and Pearl Delima Red. The top AV trim level on the other hand can be had in Glittering Silver, Granite Grey, Pearl Diamond White, Pearl Delima Red, with the last two colours featuring a contrasting black roof.
Stepping inside meanwhile, this Perodua should also not be much different to its Toyota/Daihatsu siblings in terms of interior design and layout. On the cabin tech front, the D55L is slated to feature a 7-inch TFT multi-info display as well as a 9-inch central infotainment touchscreen with voice recognition capabilities.
To be available with a five-year/150,000 km warranty, bookings for this upcoming D55L can be made now at any Perodua dealership nationwide. As for when this compact crossover will actually arrive, there has been no official word yet on this matter, but seeing as the order books are open, expect it therefore to be officially launched some time within the next six months.
