Local Mitsubishi Xpander Deliveries Have Officially Begun

Those who have ordered their new Mitsubishi Xpander MPVs will have their new cars very soon.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has just recently announced that the deliveries of its Xpander has begun. Customers who have booked one of these Mitsubishi MPVs should receive the keys to their new rides in the very near future.

Local assembly of this latest addition to the local Mitsubishi lineup began earlier in the month, with its official launch happening just a couple of days after the first Xpanders rolled off the production line in Segambut.

According to MMM, this new seven-seat minivan has gone down very well with Malaysian buyers. The response to this high-riding compact MPV has allegedly been overwhelming, and total bookings to date of the Xpander has thus far exceeded the production capacity until the end of this year. Therefore customers who book their new Xpanders from now on will be placing their orders for a 2021 model year manufactured MPV.

The Mitsubishi Xpander is currently priced at RM 91,359 with the sales tax exemption in place. Prices next year for this Japanese MPV is estimated to be RM 94,800, due to the lack of sales tax exemption beginning January 1st 2021.

Under the hood of this striking Mitsubishi minivan is a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated MIVEC four-cylinder unit, that outputs an adequate 105 PS and 141 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a well-proven four-speed automatic transmission. Interior highlights include ceiling mounted rear air-con vents, leather seats, 360º surround view camera, a DVR video recorder and a 9-inch central infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Poised to compete against the likes of the Toyota Avanza and Honda BR-V, this new Mitsubishi offering has already gone down a storm in our neighbouring ASEAN countries when it first debut in 2017. So there was already a high likelihood that it would be a common sight on Malaysian roads too. Nevertheless, it is still good to see Mitsubishi having a new addition to its rapidly ageing lineup.

PRESS RELEASE: MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced the commencement of new XPANDER delivery for customers who have booked the new XPANDER earlier.

The new XPANDER is now available for viewing and test drive at all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide.

“Mitsubishi Motors is very excited to deliver the Malaysian made new XPANDER to some early bird customers. The XPANDER has already attracted a strong following here and wherever it is sold in ASEAN. With its combination of style, practicality and competitive pricing, we believe the XPANDER will play an increasingly important role in growing our sales,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

He added, “We would like to thank our customers for the tremendous support. Due to the overwhelming response, the total amount of bookings which MMM received has exceeded the total production capacity until December 2020. Customers who book the new XPANDER moving forward will be taking the Year Make 2021 vehicles, which will be subjected to sales tax.”

The estimated prices for the new XPANDER when the 2020 sales tax exemption expires will be the following:

States Price with no SST (RM) Estimated Price with SST (RM)
Peninsular Malaysia 91,359 94,800
Sabah 92,698 96,316
Sarawak 92,748 96,366
Labuan 87,204 87,242
Langkawi 86,103 86,141

Prices above are quoted on-the-road without insurance for Private Registration in Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia and duty free zones.
