Mazda planning on MX-6 revival
Mazda has just filed a trademark application with the Japanese Patent Office for the ‘Mazda MX-6’ (pictured above is the very first Mazda6) nameplate which can be used for “automobiles and parts and accessories thereof.”
The trademark was filled on October 16 this year and this only means that Mazda is planning a revival of their 1987-1997 sports coupe which did not do really well in the global sports car market. This time around Mazda could be planning a hardtop 4- seat convertible or the production of the Vision Coupe. (pictured below)
The 1987 Mazda MX-6 was a front-wheel drive, front engine sports coupe that was produced across 2 generations only in a two-door sport coupé body style.
The 2nd generation MX-6 (pictured above and below) shared its underpinnings with the Mazda 626 sedan and Ford Probe.
