Geely Sales Up In October 2020, Over 140k Units Sold

This impressive sales figure by Geely includes the nearly 22k Lynk & Co cars sold in October. 

Despite the tumultuous year that 2020 seems to be, most automakers appear to not only have been weathering the storm perfectly fine, but some are even thriving too. Much like Geely which has just recently announced a sales figure of 140,026 units in October of this year. 

This healthy sales figure for the Chinese automaker represents an approximately 11% increase from the previous month of September, and more strikingly an 8% rise in sales from the same period last year. 

Within the 31 days last month, Geely has managed to shift 3,556 MPVs, 46,040 sedans and a staggering 90,430 SUVs. Included within this breakdown here is 5,826 ‘new energy or electrified’ vehicles, as well as 21,868 Lynk & Co branded cars. 

Continuing on the topic of Lynk & Co, this near 22k cars sold in October incidentally marks the brand’s highest monthly sales volume for the forth consecutive month, and signifies a 56% year-on-year growth for this Geely subsidiary. 

Domestic sales in China of 129,495 units accounted for about 92% of the total volume of Geely’s sales in October, which represents a 2% growth from the same period in 2019. Export sales meanwhile stood at 10,531 units in October, a figure that is up more than twofold same time last year.

Overall, the Chinese automotive conglomerate has sold 1,015,498 units in the first 10 months of the year. Though a healthy figure, it still falls short by 7% of the total sales managed for the same time period in 2019. Nevertheless, Geely is still on track to achieve its revised annual sales goal of 1,320,000 units in 2020. Having achieved 77% of this target with this most recent October sales figure. 

PRESS RELEASE: Geely Automobile Holding Limited (Group) announced that the total sales volume of the Group (including the sales volume of LYNK & CO-branded vehicles sold by the Group’s 50%-owned joint venture) for the month of October 2020 was 140,026 units, an increase of approximately 8% from the same period last year and up approximately 11% from September 2020. 

Of the total sales volume in October 2020, 5,826 units were new energy and electrified vehicles.

The Group’s exports volume was up more than twofold year-on-year to 10,531 units in the month of October 2020. During the month of October 2020, the Group’s total sales volume in the China market was 129,495 units, an increase of around 2% from the same period last year. The total sales volume in the first ten months of 2020 was 1,015,498 units, a decrease of approximately 7% from the same period last year, and achieving 77% of the Group’s revised full year sales volume target of 1,320,000 units in 2020.

During the month of October 2020, the total sales volumes of sedans, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) were 46,040 units, 90,430 units and 3,556 units, respectively.

During the same period, the total sales volume of LYNK & CO-branded vehicles was 21,868 units, up around 56% year-on-year and breaking the brand’s record high monthly sales volume for the fourth month in a row.
