Ford Ranger StormTrak Launched Locally From RM 181,888
Only 200 units of this limited edition Ford Ranger StormTrak will be making its way over here.
For those who wishes for something a Ranger that blends the off-road aesthetics of a Wildtrak with the premium kit of the Platinum, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion now has just the right truck for you, in the form of this newly-launched limited edition StormTrak!
Differentiating this StormTrak from the rest of the Ranger lineup on the outside at least begins up front with a distinctive StormTrak Scheme gloss black front grille featuring integrated tri-LED auxiliary lights, with the gloss black treatment being applied onto the front bumper too.
This black theme then continues along the side with gloss black wheel arches and side mirror caps, which complement the special StormTrak decals and emblems. This particular trim of pickup further wears a set of 20-inch matte black alloys, with (some distinctively Chery Omoda 5-esque) Race Red wheel inserts.
Discussing utility for a bit now on the load lugger, the StormTrak nets the same Flexible Rack System and Swing-in-Place Roof Rails on its bed that first appeared on the Ranger Platinum. Ford states for this particular bit of kit to supposedly be capable of supporting versatile loads up to 80 kg (dynamic) and 250 kg (static), with adjustment of the sports bar to apparently be done one-handed too.
This particular pickup also comes with cargo lights in the bed, as well as Zone Lighting all around its exterior to make nocturnal activities around this truck a slightly brighter affair. As per any other Ranger also, there are the usual two power points in the bed, and a a slight step on its rear bumper to make ingress into the rear a slightly less strenuous endeavour.
Moving on inside meanwhile, a dashboard and seats accented with Race Red stitching gives this StormTrak its sporty flair, with seats also featuring the StormTrak Logo and Miko suede inserts.
As for the tech toys within, this particular Ranger pairs a 12.0-inch central portrait infotainment screen with an 8.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Ford further wishes to highlight that the StormTrak also gains Auto Brake Hold and Active Park Assist 2.0, which were previously exclusive to the Ranger Raptor and Everest Titanium.
Powering the StormTrak is the 2.0 litre EcoBlue bi-turbo turbodiesel found in the typical Ranger, which packs 210 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The mill is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission with an e-shifter, with power sent to either the solely the rear or all wheels via a part-time electronic shift-on-the-fly 4×4 system.
Only 200 units of the Ranger StormTrak is currently set to arrive locally, with prices set at RM 181,888 in Peninsula Malaysia, and RM 188,288 in Sabah and Sarawak. For context, this is to be RM 11,000 more than the WildTrak but RM 5,000 less than the Platinum.
Bookings for the StormTrak are currently open online, with three exterior colour options available: Arctic White, Meteor Grey and Absolute Black. The lucky buyers of this limited edition Ranger will also be entitled to a complimentary Limited Edition Ford Ranger windbreaker upon vehicle delivery.
