The Beijing Xingtan 5X EV is a battery powered SUV that will be launched in Q4 of 2026. BAIC Beijing’s newest car will also have a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions on the way as well.
Lovers of the Range Rover Defender will definitely find this car familiar as the Beijing Xingtan 5X design is heavily inspired by the Range Rover Defender’s boxy design. The Beijing Xingtan 5X is on the bigger side, measuring 4860mm length, 2000mm width, and 1910mm height with a 2875mm wheel base.
Looking in the engine of this car, the Xingtan 5X sports a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Being powered by this battery is a 227 kW electric motor. This vehicle is also capable of four-wheel drive. All this allows the car to achieve top speeds of 200 kilometres per hour. The car is also said to feature Huawei ADS for autonomous driving on the road.
As for the interior, this is where the inspirations from the Range Rover Defender End as for the Beijing Xingtan 5X’s dashboard, the Range Rover Defender’s dash is way to old fashioned. So instead, Beijing opted for a typical Chinese SUV dash with large twin-screens and fully digital controls from these screens of everything in the car as this dash will have no buttons or switches to speak of.
The Beijing Xingtan 5X EV will be the newset SUV made by the BAIC Beijing company. With more details sure to be released as we get closer to the launch day in Q4, we will be reporting on them in the future.
