We all know about camper vans and how they are like bringing your home on the road. Well, if a camper van is like your home on wheels, then the Li Auto Mega is a hotel on wheels. With built-in massagers, a collapsable table, rotating back seats, full incline capabilities and a whole freezing and heating unit all in one MPV, it really feels like it has everything.
Although the Li Auto Mega is smaller compared to a traditional camper van, it is massive when compared to any other regular family vehicle. Measuring at 5350mm length, 1965mm width, 1850m height and a 3300mm wheelbase with only 3791mm of that length being usable- this car is absolutely massive but in exchange it packs a lot inside it. For that size, the price of RMB509,800 (RM310,400) is actually surprisingly cheap.
The MPV comes equipped with an intelligent all-wheel drive system with a peak power of 400 kW and a maximum torque of 542 Nm, allowing 0-100km/h acceleration in 6 seconds. It also charges surprisingly fast with a 520 kW peak charging power which allows the user to drive 500km after just 10 minutes of charging. Though, it should be noted that these charging speeds will only be possible on the specific Li Auto 5C Supercharger.
This is a 7-seater 2x2x3 layout with the middle row being able to rotate to face the back seats seamlessly or ‘zero-gravity’ in Li Auto’s words. These chairs also have leg rests allowing someone to fully lie down, assuming there’s no one in the back-most row. Passengers are also free to watch a movie on the screen that comes down from the roof with a 21.4-inch display for the second row and a 17-inch display for the third row. Not to mention the dual-infotainment system at the front for use for both the driver and front passenger.
The first four seats across the first and second row also come equipped with massaging and ventilation function allowing passengers keep loose and cool. All 7 seats also come with a heating function to keep warm; this feature may not find much use in Malaysia but it’s cool that it’s there. There is also a sunroof at the back of the car.
The car also comes with an adjustable table that can be easily assembled or disassembled for easy deployment and storage. This table can be use for a laptop, writing, or even eating; but where would someone keep food in a car? Well, where else but the built-in dual-purpose refrigerator for both cooling and heating. If it’s too much trouble to assemble to table, there are also airplane styled foldable tables behind each chair.
Moving to the boot of the car, there is a recessed trunk compartment for the table mentioned earlier and plenty of space for anything one might need. If more space is needed the last row is able to be folded down for even more space.
With all these features I honestly can’t imagine ever finding a good use for all of them but If you have a big family or are a Grab driver then this car might be for you. Except the car isn’t available in Malaysia yet so stay tuned for when it is.
