Nissan X-Trail e-POWER Arriving In Malaysia In Q4 2026

This new seven-seat electrified Nissan X-Trail will arrive at the end of this year as a fully imported model from Japan.

While it may have spent much of the past decade in the doldrums, Nissan Malaysia finally appears to be enjoying something of a renaissance. Such is as, not long after the arrival of the new Kicks and updated Serena, the X-Trail is now next in line for a full generational change on our shores.

Recently previewed at KLIMS 2026 ahead of its official local launch later this year, this latest X-Trail will replace the outgoing model that is now effectively a decade old. Worth highlighting too is that the new SUV will arrive with seven seats as standard… and be fully imported from Japan!

Now, those who keep a close eye on Nissan news may realise that this is not exactly a brand-new model globally, as the current-generation X-Trail has already been on sale in several markets for some time. What Malaysia will be receiving, however, is the facelifted T33-generation model, with neighbouring markets such as Indonesia and Thailand still offering the pre-facelift version.

The facelift introduces a revised V-Motion grille flanked by Nissan’s distinctive split-level headlights. A subtly redesigned front bumper featuring C-shaped side intakes lends the SUV a more aggressive look, while 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels fill out the arches at all four corners.

Under the bonnet sits Nissan’s latest e-POWER hybrid system, which sees a 1.5-litre KR15DDT turbocharged three-cylinder VC-Turbo engine act as a generator to charge up its 1.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Propulsion to the wheels in turn comes solely from two electric motors producing 204 PS and 330 Nm at the front, and 136 PS and 195 Nm at the rear, enabling e-4ORCE all-wheel drive.

Final specifications will only be confirmed closer to its Q4 2026 launch, but the example displayed at KLIMS appears to be a relatively high-spec variant. Featured equipment includes a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.8-inch head-up display.

Other notable niceties include a hands-free powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, a 40:20:40 split-folding second row, a 50:50 split-folding third row, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, a 15 W wireless charger, a 360-degree camera with Moving Object Detection, and three-zone climate control.

Given that the new X-Trail will be imported wholesale from Japan, pricing is unfortunately expected to be on the higher side. That said, if Nissan Malaysia manages to position it close to its Japanese rivals, this electrified seven-seater could still stand a fighting chance in an increasingly competitive SUV market.
