Toyota Sold Nearly 14,000 Land Cruisers Just In Australia In 2024

Nearly the same amount of Land Cruisers were also sold by Toyota in its home market last year.

There’s an old saying in the Australian outback: “If you want to get in, by all means take a Land Rover. But if you want to get out again, take a Land Cruiser.” And based on Toyota’s latest sales figures, it seems many still firmly believe in the reliability of this iconic 4×4.

A whopping 13,790 Land Cruisers recently found homes in Australia last year. And rather remarkably, this makes Australia the top market globally for the model — surpassing even Japan, where only 13,174 units were sold in the same period.

Beyond Australia and Japan, the Land Cruiser continued to see strong global demand, particularly across the Middle East. In fact, an impressive 59% of all Land Cruiser 300 Series models sold globally in 2024 were delivered to countries in that region.

Saudi Arabia ranked third overall with 12,381 units, while the United Arab Emirates followed closely with 9,319 units. Other strong markets included Oman (8,882), Qatar (8,685), Kuwait (8,028), Iraq (7,133), and Jordan (2,849) — all of which rounded out the top ten.

The only outlier in this top ten list, aside from Australia and Japan, was Russia. Interestingly, despite Toyota halting official new vehicle sales in the country following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the Land Cruiser 300 still managed to rack up 3,682 sales there in 2024—securing ninth position globally.

All told, Toyota sold around 105,700 units of the Land Cruiser 300 Series worldwide last year. While this represents a slight 2% dip compared to 2023, it’s still a solid showing for a model now entering its fourth year of production, especially in the face of growing competition from a wave of new Chinese SUV contenders.

First launched in 2021, this current 300 Series Land Cruiser rides on Toyota’s TNGA-F ladder-frame architecture and has been gradually updated since. It gained a fully digital instrument cluster last year, while just this past June saw it gain a new self-charging hybrid powertrain and a other few subtle styling tweaks.
