Ford Ranger Getaways 4×4 Adventures Kick Off This Weekend

The first getaway planned is the Ranger 4×4 Off-Road Course and Water Rafting Thrills Experience.

To further the image of Built Ford Tough and allow its customers to fully utilise their pickup’s potential, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) has recently announced that it has lined up a new series of Ford Ranger Getaways off-roading adventures and training sessions for Ranger and Ranger Raptor owners this year. And the first one of which is incidentally kicking off this coming weekend!

The first getaway planned by SDAC is the Ranger 4×4 Off-Road Course and Water Rafting Thrills experience in Kampung Ulu Slim, Perak, which is to be taking place on the 20th April 2024. Up next meanwhile is the Sarawak 4×4 Training Academy (Sar4Trac) Beginner 4WD Course in Kampung Barieng, Bau, Sarawak, held on the 27th April 2024.

These beginner-level 4WD courses have made a return following positive responses from Ranger and Ranger Raptor owners who have had past training experiences, including the recently completed M4TREC Beginner 4WD Course in March. According to SDAC, attendees from past trainings appreciated the quality of instructions, the practicality of the sessions and the thrill of putting their skills to the test in a controlled environment.

Conquer The Off-Road, Conquer The Rapids

The Ranger 4×4 Off-Road Course and Water Rafting Thrills getaway is touted as an adrenaline-fueled rafting adventure along Slim River in Perak, which promises a full day of excitement set against the scenic beauty of Malaysia’s natural landscape. Adventurers will navigate a beginner-friendly 4×4 off-road course, before experiencing the thrill of whitewater rafting along the Slim River.

Open to four people per vehicle, the Ranger 4×4 Off-Road Course and Water Rafting Thrills getaway kicks off with a convoy from Ford Ara Damansara to the rafting starting point in Kampung Ulu Slim. Along the way, participants will test their basic 4×4 skills on a beginner-friendly off-roading course under the guidance of expert instructors, during which they will discover more about the capabilities of their Rangers.

Upon arrival at the rafting starting point, participants will then embark in groups with local or Orang Asli guides on a two-hour “roller coaster” run along the river. This eight-km stretch, peppered with fun class two rapids and one huge class three rapid, is set to be a great introduction to whitewater rafting.

The rafting trail also includes a scenic pit stop at Lobok Kotak where participants can enjoy a refreshing swim as they rejuvenate amidst nature’s beauty, before continuing their rafting adventure. There will be opportunities for participants to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow adventurers as well, to create lasting memories together throughout the rafting journey.

Master Basic 4×4 Skills For More Off-Roading Adventures

The Sar4Trac Beginner 4WD Course In Sarawak meanwhile is open to two people per vehicle, and is designed for all owners who want to maximise their Rangers and Raptors and take their off-roading skills to the next level. Tailored specifically for off-road enthusiasts seeking to improve their skills and handle their vehicles in challenging terrains, it is ideal for new owners looking to learn the basics of off-road driving and safety, while professional drivers can also benefit from the course by honing their skills for work purposes.

Participants will first attend a briefing on safety, the basics of 4×4 driving and the obstacle courses that they will be tackling. Then, under the close guidance of instructors, participants will then put into practice the basic techniques for navigating the obstacles in a hands-on session. These obstacles include Dirt Track, Frame Twister, Mud & Gravel, Rutted Track, Ditch, Hill Ascent, Hill Descent and Water Wading. All attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the training session.

Apart from these organised trips such as the Ranger 4×4 Off-Road Course and Water Rafting Thrills adventure and Sar4Trac Beginner 4WD Course, there are also other getaways that customers can choose to go for on their own. Slots for all Ford Ranger Getaways are limited on a first-come, first-served basis.

A Prior Successful Off-Road Escapade

Separately, SDAC-Ford also organised a two-day test-drive event in Saradise, Kuching in March. The event offered prospective and loyal customers in Sarawak the exclusive opportunity to experience the Next-Gen Ranger and Raptor models on a specially constructed off-road track. Some Ranger owners also brought their own vehicles to experience the test-drive route.

The route included multiple off-road obstacles across different terrains, designed to showcase the advanced features and enhancements of the Ranger and Raptor. All participants were accompanied and guided by experienced off-road instructors, ensuring a comprehensive experience.

During the test-drive event, attendees also experienced the Next-Gen Ranger Platinum and WildTrak models, in addition to the Next-Gen Everest Sport, on an on-road test drive route. Both the M4TREC Beginner 4WD Course and the test-drive event in Saradise also offered customers the opportunity to network and build camaraderie with other fellow Ranger owners and like-minded individuals.

“The Ford Ranger Getaways training experiences are designed to help customers unlock the true potential of their Rangers and Raptors. We welcome more Ranger owners especially our next-gen customers to participate in these training sessions to learn more about their vehicle’s features and elevate their driving skills, safely and effectively,” said Turse Zuhair, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford.
