Used Tesla Values Falling After Model Y Bookings Open At RM199k

Model Y new car price has caused the severe mark down of old AP imported Tesla EV’s in Malaysia

Check local classifieds right now to see how private PEKEMA importers have immediately adjusted their selling prices of used and new old stock Tesla electric cars, most models after the Malaysian Tesla office announced their Model Y selling price at RM199k which is even lower than the Thailand selling price.

It is a severe ‘shock to the used car market’ as some PEKEMA members have been sitting with a large number of Tesla’s after a frantic buying spree in England and also Australia.

Meanwhile, in case you missed it, Tesla has announced that its latest all-electric SUV, Model Y, is now available to order in Malaysia on tesla.com/en_my/modely / tesla.com/en_my, starting from RM199,000.

Model Y used values

The Model Y is the best-selling all-electric SUV in the world and one of the safest cars on the road, with perfect 5-star ratings from NHTSA and Euro NCAP.

Like every Tesla vehicle, this EV SUV combines range, performance, safety, and technology. As a mid-size SUV, Model Y offers over 2100 litres of cargo space, providing versatile seating and storage for up to five passengers with their belongings.

With ultra-responsive motors, it only takes 3.7 seconds for the Model Y to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h, with a range of up to 533 km (WLTP) per charge. Model Y comes with an all-glass roof, autopilot, active safety features, and a HEPA air filtration system.

Interestingly, the starting is just RM199,000 in Malaysia and the Model Y is available in three trims: Model Y (Rear-wheel drive), Model Y Long Range, and Model Y Performance. The estimated delivery date will be in early 2024.

As part of Malaysia’s commitment to promoting the adoption of low-carbon mobility and supporting the development of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, customers can enjoy full import and excise duties exemption for newly registered zero-emission Tesla electric vehicles (Completely Built-up electric vehicles) along with 100 percent road tax exemption (that is for now only).

Tesla owners may also claim individual income tax relief of up to RM2,500 on expenses related to the cost of installation, rental, purchase, including hire-purchase equipment or subscription fees for EV charging facilities, for the assessment year of 2023.

So, if you currently already own a Tesla (2 to 3 years old) bought from a PEKEMA showroom and plan to sell your Tesla, you might get anywhere between RM85k to RM95k only and its best that you keep your Tesla and not sell it.
