Geely Sold Over 100,000 Cars In April 2021

The more impressive stat however is that Geely exports in April were double that of last year.

Geely has recently announced that it has sold 100,331 cars in April of 2021. While this strong sales figure —which includes 19,021 Lynk & Co vehicles— may sound impressive, it actually however represents an approximately 5% drop from the same time last year.

In fact, Geely has witnessed its domestic in China sales shrink by some 9% last month to only having 91,753 units sold within April 2021. Though it is not all bad news for the Chinese auto giant, as its exports did jump by a staggering 96% year-on-year in the prior month, with 8,578 units having found new homes overseas.

Reporting that cumulative sales were ‘at about the same level as compared with the previous month in March 2021’, its April sales figure puts the Chinese automaker at approximately 28% towards achieving its 2021 sales target of 1,530,000 units. Something which looks to be achievable, especially considering that Geely has already sold 433,907 cars within the first four months of the year.

A 39% increase in cumulative sales to date from the year before, SUVs remain the automaker’s bread and butter with a staggering 58,897 units sold in April 2021 alone. The second biggest segment of car that Geely has sold over the last month will be sedans, of which 41,115 units left dealerships. The 319 MPVs sold meanwhile only accounted 0.3% of its sales in the prior month.

As for its subsidiary Lynk & Co, the partly-owned joint-venture with Volvo has had yet another impressive month in sales. The 19,021 units sold represents an increase of around 87% year-on-year, but more impressively perhaps it is the third-straight month of steadily increasing sales again since its peak back in January 2021 with 25,501 cars sold then.

PRESS RELEASE: Geely Automobile Holding Limited (Group) announced that the total sales volume of the Group (including the sales volume of LYNK & CO-branded vehicles sold by the Group’s 50%-owned joint venture) for the month of April 2021 was 100,331 units, a decrease of approximately 5% from the same period last year, but at about the same level as compared with the previous month in March 2021.

Of the total sales volume in April 2021, 3,787 units were new energy and electrified vehicles. The Group’s exports volume was up approximately 96% year-on-year to 8,578 units in the month of April 2021. During the month of April 2021, the Group’s total sales volume in the China market was 91,753 units, a decrease of around 9% from the same period last year. The total sales volume in the first four months of 2021 was 433,907 units, an increase of approximately 39% from the same period last year, achieving 28% of the Group’s full year sales volume target of 1,530,000 units in 2021.
