Mercedes-Benz Celebrates 140 Years of Innovation with Global Anniversary Tour in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur Hosts “140 Years. 140 Places.” Showcase Featuring the New S-Class and Mercedes-Benz Heritage

Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 140 years of automotive innovation with the arrival of its global “140 Years. 140 Places.” tour in Malaysia, bringing together customers, enthusiasts, and the public to commemorate the brand’s rich legacy of engineering excellence and innovation.
For 140 years, since Carl Benz patented the world’s first automobile, Mercedes-Benz has continuously redefined mobility through groundbreaking technology, craftsmanship, and performance. Today, that legacy continues with intelligent, safe, and increasingly electrified vehicles designed for the future.
“140 Years of Innovation for Mercedes-Benz is not just a milestone; it is a testament to what happens when passion, precision, and purpose come together. Through the ‘140 Years. 140 Places.’ journey, we are proud to celebrate and share our brand’s rich heritage with Malaysians,” said Martin Schulz, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia.
140 Years. 140 Places.
Having travelled across six continents since January 2026, the global anniversary tour now arrives in Kuala Lumpur, where Mercedes-Benz will host “140 Places. 140 Years. One Celebration in Kuala Lumpur” at the House of Mercedes-Benz, KLCC Square on 30 and 31 May.
Visitors can experience:
- Classic Mercedes-Benz models
- High-performance Mercedes-AMG vehicles
- A first look at the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class
- Displays highlighting the brand’s heritage and innovation journey
The New Mercedes-Benz S-Class
A key highlight of the celebration is the debut of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
Featuring more than 2,700 newly developed or re-engineered components, the latest S-Class introduces a larger illuminated grille, the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), MBUX Superscreen, and enhanced AIRMATIC suspension, further reinforcing its position as the benchmark luxury sedan.
Formula One fans will also have the opportunity to view the Mercedes MGP W01 race car, which marked the beginning of the successful partnership between PETRONAS and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team.
A Legacy Built in Malaysia
Mercedes-Benz’s relationship with Malaysia spans more than a century, with official sales beginning in 1951 and local vehicle assembly commencing in 1968.
Malaysia became the first country outside Germany to assemble the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in 1983, while the Pekan production facility has continued to play an important role in the brand’s regional operations. In 2023, Mercedes-Benz celebrated the production of its 100,000th passenger car in Malaysia and introduced the locally assembled EQS 500 4MATIC.
Today, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia continues to strengthen its presence through investments in manufacturing, logistics, digital innovation, and customer experience.
Driving the Future
As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 years globally, the brand remains committed to delivering exceptional ownership experiences through initiatives such as Agility+ and Young Star Agility+, while continuing to foster a strong community united by a shared passion for the three-pointed star.
The 140-year celebration serves as both a reflection of Mercedes-Benz’s heritage and a glimpse into the future of mobility.
