Volvo EM90 Is A Brand New Luxury All Electric MPV

This EM90 will be Volvo Cars first ever MPV

Volvo Cars will be introducing an all-electric luxury people mover, MPV (otherwise called a minivan) later this year.

Called the EM90, it has been described as a “Scandinavian living room on the move.”

This venture follows Volvo’s prior mention of an all electric MPV during an EV future product presentation earlier this year.

The EM90, under Volvo’s parent company Geely will be released alongside vehicles from ZEEKR and Polestar and it looks like it will share its underpinnings with the ZEEKR 009 MPV.

Now, the all electric 009 MPV from Zeekr is very large vehicle, measuring in at 5209/2024/1856mm with a wheelbase of 3205mm.

As for design, the front silver grille is massive like most Chinese cars these days. You also find ADAS cameras and sensors all over the vehicle in the front fenders, behind the windscreen and under the license plate.

The Zeekr 009 also has sliding doors, which is common in most MPV’s. There are three rows of seats with a seating configuration. The MPV is also built on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), which is also used for the new Lotus Eletre and the upcoming Polestar 5.

Meanwhile, buyers will be able to choose from a 116 kWh battery pack with a possible 700 km range, or they can opt for the 140 kWh battery with up to 822 km driving range.

This electric MPV is part of Volvo’s push into the fast growing EV global market and the EM90 will sit side by side with other Volvo models like the XC40 and C40 Recharge.

With an AWD dual-motor powertrain and ample safety and cabin technology features we are sure this Volvo MPV will sell faster than they can produce it.

Start saving up as this EM90’s global launch is slated for November 12, 2023.
