Hot New Smart #1 Brabus Officially Debuts In Malaysia

Malaysia marks the first ASEAN market for this hot smart EV to be introduced in. 

While bookings for it have been open for a while already now, today nevertheless marks the day in which the smart #1 Brabus is officially introduced in Malaysia. The first market in ASEAN to receive this hot all-electric hatchback, its local unveiling was performed during the opening day of the international Electric Mobility Showcase (IEMS) at KLCC. 

The top-of-the-line variant of the #1, this hot Brabus trim features a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup outputs a combined 315 kW and 543 Nm of torque. This in turn will punt this compact crossover to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds, and onto a top speed of 180 km/h. 

Powering these twin motors meanwhile is a 66 kWh battery pack, which is claimed by smart to be good for a healthy 400 km of WLTP-claimed range. The Brabus is also capable of AC charging at up to 22 kW for a 10% to 80% in an estimated 3 hours, while simultaneously able to accept up to 150 kW DC fast charging which sees its batteries filled from 10% to 80% in just under half an hour. 

To distinguish itself as the performance-oriented variant over the other two Pro and Premium trims, the #1 Brabus naturally nets some sporty accoutrements like an aero kit that brings with it vents in the bonnet, as well as a deeper front bumper and a wider rear spoiler. Red brake calipers also appear on this hot Smart, which are hidden behind 19-inch Dynamo alloys. 

Red accents continue further within too with red seatbelts and red stitching adding some pizzazz the suede sports seats. Aluminium pedals and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel are on hand to further jazz up its interior, with this hot model also containing some custom performance-related modes on its 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 9.2-inch central infotainment screen. 

According to the manufacturer, there are 7 colour combinations available with the #1 Brabus. Customers who select the Radiant Red roof can go with Atom Grey – Matte, Meta Black and Cyber Silver exterior colours, while the selection of a black roof nets a colour selection that rangers from Digital White, Laser Red, and Cyber Silver. Lastly, there is Atom Grey – Matte, which comes with an exclusive matte body-coloured roof.

As alluded to at the start, prospective smart #1 Brabus owners can also start placing orders for their new EVs already. Bookings are to be conducted via the Hello smart App, with the first 501 pre-order customers set to receive RM 1,001 worth of charging credits. 

On the topic of money however, its local debut today still doesn’t answer the question as to how much exactly this new EV will cost. Instead, tentative pricing for the smart #1 lineup is still being officially stated at ranging from RM 200,000 to RM 250,000.
