Powertrain Specs

Honda Malaysia is currently offering two engine options with the new CR-V. The three-lower variants net an improved version of the outgoing iteration’s 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a CVT, while the top-end e:HEV trim nets a hybrid setup that combines a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder and an electric motor with an Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e:CVT).

The purely-petrol powertrain is quoted to output a maximum horsepower and torque figure of 193 PS and 243 Nm of torque, with an official fuel consumption figure of between 7.0 – 7.5L/100 km. Both the lower-range S and E trims are front wheel drive, while the V trim nets real time all-wheel drive that has since been improved to enable 50:50 power distribution (from 60:40 front to rear from before).

As for the CR-V e:HEV RS meanwhile, its hybrid powertrain is rated at a combined maximum of 184 PS and 335 Nm of torque, with an official fuel consumption figure of 5.0L/100 km. Honda is further touting that this electrified variant to be capable of full electric drive mode (for a short while that is) from its 1.06 kWh battery pack.

Century sprint times for the CR-V is currently listed at 9.7 and 9.8 seconds respectively for the S and E variant, while the AWD V trim does it in 10.4 seconds but retains the same top speed of 200 km/h. The e:HEV on the other hand goes from 0-100 km/h in 9.0 seconds.

Honda SENSING

All specs of the new CR-V comes as standard with an upgraded Honda SENSING package, which brings with a Wide-Angle Radar, Camera and Sonar Sensor. Among the features available with this active safety suite includes:

  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Road Departure Mitigation
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Lead Car Departure Notification System (new for this iteration of CR-V)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow
  • Automatic High Beam (with Adaptive Driving Beam exclusive to the 2.0L e:HEV RS variant)

Colour Choices

The new Honda CR-V is available in a selection of 5 colours for all trims, and these are: Canyon River Blue Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Ignite Red Metallic.

Size Specs

And just wrapping things up, here is how the new CR-V compares size-wise to its prior iteration:

  • Exterior height: 1,681 mm (+2 mm from predecessor)
  • Exterior width: 1,866 mm (+11 mm from predecessor)
  • Exterior length: 4,691 mm (+68 mm from predecessor)
  • Wheelbase: 2,701 mm (+40 mm from predecessor)

Cargo capacity:

  • Rear seats up: 589 litres
  • Rear seats down: 1,072 litres

Unfortunately, Honda Malaysia will not be offering the 7-seat option that is currently available in other markets for the CR-V, citing insufficient demand for the extra effort required during local assembly. This new SUV however does have an extra 16 mm of rear leg room relative to its outgoing iteration.

Projected Sales Target

Much like its predecessor, Honda Malaysia is targeting a sales target for the new model of 1,000 units per month, with the V variant tipped as being the best selling trim. There is currently a waiting list of around 2 to 3 months for this new Comfortable Runabout Vehicle, from the 2,000 bookings it has already received since order books for it first opened last month.
