2023 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Cruiser Lands In Malaysia

The Super Meteor arrives locally with a price tag starting from RM 37,900.

After its initial local preview at the recent Art of Speed Kustom and Kulture show, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is finally launched in Malaysia. Debuting at the Desaru International Bike Week in Johor, this new British cruiser is available from RM 37,900.

Touted by its maker to be a ‘quintessential cruiser’, the Super Meteor features an entirely frame and swing arm construction that was developed at the UK Technology Centre in conjunction with Harris Performance. Fabricated in steel with optimised forgings and incorporating a new cylinder head mount for additional stiffness, Royal Enfield says of this new chassis to ‘provide a low centre of gravity for high-speed stability and easy manoeuvrability’.

The ease of riding this new cruiser has been further enhanced by the fitment of USD forks —a first for Royal Enfield — up front, not to mention too premium shocks with a 5-step preload round the rear. The Super Meteor also features fully feet-forward foot controls and raised, wide handlebars to make the ride as comfortable as possible.

While on the topic of comfort though, the Super Meteor features too adjustable clutch and brake levers. Other creature comforts worth noting on this cruiser meanwhile includes an analogue instrument cluster with an integrated LCD display, a discreet USB socket is located beneath the left side panel and the Royal Enfield Tripper TBT (Turn-By-Turn) navigation pod, which links to the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth

As for propulsion meanwhile, the Super Meteor 650 comes fitted with Royal Enfield’s 648 cc air-cooled parallel twin, with drive sent to its rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The same unit as in its Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 siblings, power is rated at 47 hp while max torque is rated for 52 Nm.

Braking on the other hand is down to the responsibility of single 320 mm two-piston disk slowing the 19-inch front wheel down, while a single smaller 300 mm setup brings the 16-inch wheel to a halt at the rear. Two-channel ABS is standard on the Super Meteor, as is a LED headlight (another first for Royal Enfield) and a rather substantial 15.7-litre fuel tank.

This particular Royal Enfield arrives locally in two variants: the Super Meteor 650 and the Super Meteor 650 Tourer. The Tourer variant adds to the base variant a pillion seat back rest and windshield. Both variants are to be available in 7 different colour options.

Currently available to order in dealerships across the country, prices for the Super Meteor, as stated earlier, begins from RM 37,900. Though it is worth noting that this is an introductory price for the Super Meteor Single (Astral). The Super Meteor Dual (Interstellar) and Super Meteor Tourer (Celestial) meanwhile has been announced to cost RM 38,300 and MYR 39,300 respectively.
