The Renault Koleos over here gets adds a few fancy features for 2021.
TC Euro Cars, the official distributor of Renault cars in Malaysia, has recently announced the arrival of the facelifted Koleos on our shores. First unveiled globally late last year, this updated flagship French SUV is currently available for both purchase as well as subscription with ‘a variety of curated plans’ on offer.
Starting first with the updates made to this Renault SUV, the main difference between the new model and its pre-facelift predecessor will probably be the addition of a third trim level. Dubbed the Signature Plus, it naturally sits above the Signature variant, which in turn is a step higher than the regular Koleos variant.
All three variants however gain a raft of updates to both the outside and within, with the most distinctive of which being PureVision LED headlights (that are supposedly 10% more energy efficient than before) redesigned LED tail light clusters (that now feature dynamic turn signals). Aside from the lighting differences, the Koleos also gains new 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch items for the higher two variants), as well as a new Highland Silver exterior hue replacing the existing Ultra Silver option.
Moving inside, an 8.7-inch portrait style central infotainment touchscreen with integrated Android Auto and Apple Carplay, interior ambient lighting, reclining rear seats and cooled cupholders in the central armrest are to be found within the Koleos. A hands-free powered tailgate and Renault’s Easy Folding System of rear seats are available on all variants too, to further increase the practicality of this large SUV.
Exclusive to the Signature and Signature Plus variants however are an electric panoramic sunroof. Ventilated front seats with wide Relax headrests are also only available on these two higher-tier trim levels, as are the massaging and memory driver’s seat.
Additionally, the regular Koleos gets a black Riviera leather upholstery with dark striped wood trim. The Signature and Signature Plus variants on the other hand is distinguished by Sand Grey Nappa leather upholstery with natural grain Grey wood trim.
Differences between the Signature and Signature Plus meanwhile mainly comes down to the latter gaining front and rear dash cams. The top-tier Koleos is also slightly sportier courtesy of the grey-painted front and rear bumper skirts, as well as side steps.
As for what lies under the hoods of the Koleos, all three variants still retain the existing 2.5 litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder that sends its power through an X-Tronic CVT. Power output is rated at 171 PS, while peak torque is claimed to be a reasonable 226 Nm.
Coming with Renault’s standard 5-year/150,000 km warranty plan, prices for the Koleos starts at RM 181,885.68 for the base model, before rising to RM 201,086.84 and RM 206,886.84 for the Signature and Signature Plus variants respectively. Bear in mind however that the prices stated here are inclusive of the 50% sales tax exemption as per the norm with all CBU cars such as this fully-imported SUV.
For those who prefer to subscribe to their Koleos though, the monthly subscription fee ranges from RM 2,599 for a three-year plan on the base model, to RM 3,799 for a one-year plan for the Signature Plus variant. Like with all Renault Subscription plans, this monthly fee includes road tax, insurance and regular maintenance.
