Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has just launched the all-new Volkswagen Golf R-Line in Malaysia. Bookings for the Golf R-Line were opened earlier this year, alongside the launch of the Golf GTI Mk8. Like other new Volkswagen models, the Golf R-Line is also locally assembled at the Pekan plant.
The appearance of the Volkswagen Golf R-Line mostly stays original to the timeless Golf design. Being an R-Line model, the C-signature front bumper has been lowered to slightly increase aerodynamics and performance. 17” Valencia alloy wheels and a pair of chrome-effect trapezoid faux exhaust tailpipe also give the car a sportier look.
Under the bonnet, the Volkswagen Golf R-Line is powered by a 1.4TSI turbocharged engine paired to an 8-speed transmission. It produces a maximum output of 150PS and 250Nm of torque.
Inside, technology in the Golf R-Line is one of the most advanced a Volkswagen has ever had. It includes an intelligent voice control system which allows passengers to activate voice commands by saying “Hello Volkswagen”.
Sporty features are also included inside the Golf R-Line. Sport seats fitted in Sardegna fabric and Art Velours side bolsters deliver a comfortable ride while looking good at the same time. Other features include 30-colour ambient lighting, 3-zone Climatronic air con with Air Care to filter out particles in the air.
The all-new Golf is built for safety as the frame is constructed using a combination of high-quality steel that is extensively engineered to provide maximum occupant protection in the event of an accident.
Other key safety features include ESC (Electronic Stability Control); Post Collision Braking System that prevents a second collision; Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) that improves traction and reduce understeer; six airbags for post-collision protection and more.

The Volkswagen Golf R-Line is priced at RM169,990. For this price, you are also getting three years free maintenance, five years unlimited mileage warranty, and five years roadside assistance all included.
Five colours are available including two new ones – Moonstone Grey and metallic Kings Red. Other colours are Atlantic Blue in metallic finishing, as well as Deep Black and Oryx White with pearl effect.
