Revised Modenas Elegan 250 ABS Scooter Launched Locally

Modenas adds a vital safety feature and some visual updates to this maxi-scooter.

Modenas has recently unveiled an updated version of its Elegan 250 ABS scooter. Launched three years ago in 2017, this new update is more of a slight refresh instead of an all out revision.

Like the name suggests, the biggest update to this maxi-scooter is in the braking department, with the addition of a new twin channel Bosch ABS system that supposedly offers better braking control of this maxi-scooter, especially under tricky conditions. A four stage adjustable braking system is also featured on this Modenas. As are disk brakes at either end, with 260 mm diameter disks up front and 240 mm round the back.

As for propulsion, the fuel injected 250 cc single cylinder that develops 22.5 PS and 22.4 Nm of torque is a carry-over unit from the outgoing model. The CVT transmission too that sends power to the rear wheel is a unit that is seen on the current Elegan 250. On the economy front, this new scooter does have EEV certification and would return a claimed 40.4 km/l from its 12.5 litre fuel tank. Moving onto the suspension, much is the same as before with telescopic front forks and a trailing swing arm setup coupled to dual shocks behind.

Exterior wise, new colours have been introduced, with satin matte red and satin matte black replacing the old black and white colour choices. These new colour schemes are further emphasised by the new dual projector headlights with LED running lights, which complement the rear LED tail lights with an X-design lighting signature.

For extra riding comfort, a wind shield is standard on this maxi-scooter, as are the two tiered seat and the wide two tiered foot rest. The Modenas Elegan 250 ABS also features a USB charging port in the front storage compartment and the same TFT information display on the meter cluster as before, sandwiched between the usual twin analog dials. Other practicalities include an LED light integrated within the storage compartment and a gas strut to keep the lid raised for easier access into said compartment.

This recently refreshed Modenas maxi-scooter is priced at RM 15,315, not including road tax, registration or insurance. A 2 year or 20,000 km warranty however is offered as standard with this model. The Elegan 250 ABS is now available at authorised Modenas dealerships nationwide.
