The 20 units of Mini Clubman Final Editions landing locally are out of the 1,969 available worldwide.
After a good two-generation run since its initial new-era revival back in 2007, MINI has unfortunately decided to can the Clubman moving forward. Though its imminent demise is of course not to be quiet, as this quirky longroof has since been given the obligatory marketing man’s send off with a Final Edition. 20 units of which are incidentally coming over to Malaysia, and could be yours for RM 318,888.
Now these 20 units arriving locally are out of the 1,969 Final Editions produced worldwide, with the production number being a reference to the first year in which the original Clubman made its debut. And just so everyone knows that this is the special send off edition, these MINIs also bear a ‘1 of 1969’ badge on its C-pillar and a glistening ‘Final Edition’ emblem on its rump.
But perhaps more obviously distinguishing the Clubman Final Edition to its regular counterparts are its Shimmer Copper exterior accents, which are to be found up front on the grille surround, in addition to being the colour of choice for the side stripes of this send-off MINI. These bronze highlights are then further continued onto the bespoke 18-inch alloys, with the other black colour on these two-tone wheels are being extended towards the headlight surrounds, door handles, and exhaust tip.
Moving on inside meanwhile, this swan-song Clubman continues its array of edition-specific details with the addition of the ‘Final Edition’ emblem displayed on the bottom spoke of its Nappa Leather steering wheel. This script is also present along its door sills, while its Velour floor mats further emphasise its exclusivity by bearing the ‘1 of 1,969’ badge. Further interior touches include ‘Final Edition’ lasered rivets that come in either Shimmer Copper or Enigmatic Black, which complement the Leather Dark Maroon interior that is complete with contrast stitching and piping.
As for the rest of the interior kit, the MINI Clubman Final Edition comes with the latest-generation 8.8-inch central infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration and a Digital Dashboard. Other creature comforts present include the Driving Assistant package (which provides digital high-beam assistance, speed limit information, pedestrian warning with light city braking function, and approach control warning with light city braking function), Comfort Access, Reverse Camera and Parking Assistant including Front Park Distance Control, in addition to a Harman Kardon HiFi Surround Sound system.
The Clubman Final Edition lands locally only in front-wheel drive Cooper S guise, so under the hood therefore lies a 2-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo four cylinder that produces 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Complemented by a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Sports Automatic Transmission, MINI quotes for this six-door long roof to be capable of a century sprint in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 226 km/h.
Available in three road-commanding colours – Nanuq White, Melting Silver III and Enigmatic Black, the Clubman Final Edition lands locally with the MINI 4 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service and is covered by MINI Malaysia’s 5-Year Roadside Assistance programme. More importantly too, with the Straight Line Financing from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of this RM 318,888 swan-song six-door could start from RM 3,692.00 (based on estimates of 80% loan, 100,000 km mileage on a seven-year tenure).
