All-New Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic Coupe Lands Locally

This new sleeker sibling to the Mercedes-Benz GLC arrives in Malaysia costing RM 469,888.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has recently introduced locally the second-generation GLC Coupe. Arriving 8 months after its global reveal, this new sleeker and sportier sibling to its similarly named SUV counterpart arrives on our shores in only a single fully-imported 300 4MATIC AMG Line guise thus far.

Much like the GLC SUV, its sloped-roof sibling has grown slightly in height (+5 mm) and length (+31 mm) from its first iteration. Though perhaps what might be more apparent with regards to its newfound increased presence on the road, according to Mercedes-Benz that is, will be its new two-part tail lights ‘with black-coloured and dark red connecting elements, closed off below by the simulated chrome underguard’.

Standard on the GLC Coupé too are DIGITAL LIGHT headlights up front with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, while its sides also net aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs. Flanking said side-steps meanwhile are 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels and wheel arch liners in the vehicle colour that come as part of the AMG Line package, in addition to sports suspension all round and enlarged brakes up front.

As to what those brakes are putting a stop to, the GLC300 4MATIC, like its SUV sibling, nets a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque and a 48 V mild hybrid system that provides further boost of 23 PS and 205 Nm. Mated to a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission and its namesake 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, Mercedes-Benz quotes for this powertrain package in its near two-tonne beast to be capable of a century sprint time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 246 km/h.

Moving on inside now, the GLC Coupe unsurprisingly mimics its squarer sibling in its cabin layout and equipment list. This therefore equates to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central infotainment portrait touchscreen running on the newest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which is then topped off Burmester 3D surround sound system.

The AMG Line package brings with it too a Nappa-leather wrapped multifunction sports steering wheel, to compliment the instrument panel and seats that are in turn covered with ARTICO man-made leather in a Nappa look. Other key features included within the GLC300 4MATIC Coupe are Thermatic automatic dual-zone climate control, Keyless-Go Comfort package, Boot Comfort Package, an Easy-Pack tailgate and a panoramic sliding sunroof.

In terms of safety features on the other hand, the list with the GLC Coupe includes Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist, as well as Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC. Mercedes-Benz is also touting its GUARD 360° vehicle protection that offers all-round vehicle monitoring with tow-away protection, in addition to an off-road screen and transparent bonnet feature as an element of its standard 360° surround view camera system.

Available to purchase at Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide as well as its online store, the GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe currently retails for RM 469,888. A price that is incidentally RM 91,000 more than its (admittedly newly locally-assembled) SUV sibling, but that is perhaps what style costs these days…

Bettina Plangger, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & SEA II said, “We are happy to introduce the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupé where the exquisite blend of efficiency meets an unrivalled visual presence. This luxury SUV is a testament to refined luxury and innovative design and we are delighted to present it to our customers in Malaysia. The sporty coupé silhouette is at the heart of its visual identity, exuding a sense of elegance, dynamism, and a hint of offroad adventure from the very first glance.”
