New Land Rover Freelander 8 Priced RM106,000 to RM181,000

On September 3, 2026, the Land Rover Freelander 8 six-seater officially launched globally, offering three trim levels with a limited-time promotional starting price of RMB 299,900 (RM 181,000) and up to RMB 176,000 (RM 106,00) in exclusive purchase benefits.
It is a full-size high-end model with a dual-motor AWD for 610 kW (818 hp) and 310 km of electric range under CLTC conditions.
The Freelander 8 is the newest car from the Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR) joint venture. It is positioned as a successor to the Land Rover Freelander SUV, which was discontinued back in 2014 with the launch of the Discovery Sport.

Previously, the Freelander 8 began presales in China with a price range of 339,900 – 459,900 yuan (205,000 – 276,000 MYR). It was also seen in the UAE during road tests, hinting at the upcoming global rollout.
The Freelander 8 is a full-size SUV with dimensions of 5118/2050/1898 mm. For clarity, it is 736 mm longer than the first-gen Land Rover Freelander. The wheelbase of the new SUV stretches to 3,040 mm. The car rides on 21- or 22-inch wheels.
They are exclusively equipped with Pirelli P Zero Elect tires. The Freelander 8 can tow up to 2,000 kg. Its ground clearance is 220 mm. Moreover, the car adopts dual-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Its turning radius is just 5.15 meters.
The Freelander 8’s cabin adopts two interior layout variants for 5 and 6 seats. The car’s dashboard adopts a large 46.3-inch screen under the windshield. It acts as an LCD instrument panel. This model also has a 15.6-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar. The second-row seats of the Freelander 8 adopt 16-point massage. There is also a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted monitor. Other highlights include a 10-liter built-in fridge and folding tables.
The Freelander 8 is an EREV with a 1.5-liter range extender under the hood. It powers a 60.3 kWh LFP battery, suitable for 310 km of electric range under CLTC conditions. The Freelander 8 comes standard with a dual-motor AWD for 610 kW (818 hp) and 813 Nm. The car speeds up to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
