Kia XCeed joins the ‘family’

This all new XCeed stands out with its style and spirit. Apart from the front doors, no body parts are taken from the 5-door sedan. The only true common universe is the driving position. The wheelbase is also identical (2650 mm).

On the other hand, the overhangs of the Kia XCeed are 25 mm longer at the front (905 mm) and 60 mm at the back (840 mm). In the end, the Korean is 4395 mm long, 85 mm more than the sedan. Its height of 1490 mm makes it the dominant of the Ceed family. It nevertheless shows a certain sense of practical duty with a trunk of 426 l, more generous than 31 l that the sedan.

The line of the XCeed is characterized by a long front cover, with a specific facies. It ends with a tailgate (electric) strongly inclined. This crossover features curvaceous back and side reinforcements, roof rails and a metal skirt to consolidate its robust and dynamic spirit. This model also asserts its status by its 174 mm ground clearance (184 mm with 18-inch wheels). With the exception of the new hydraulic stops, the independent suspension remains identical to the rest of the range. The compression ratio has however been adapted to the raised ground clearance.

The launch at 3rd quarter of this year will be 3 turbocharged petrol and two diesel engines. The entry level is the 1.0 l T-GDi. This 3-cylinder develops 120 bhp and 172 Nm. The 1.4-liter T-GDi four-cylinder develops for its part 140 hp and 242 Nm. At the top of line, we find the 1.6 l T-GDi of 204 hp and 265 Nm of Ceed GT and ProCeed  GT. In Diesel, the 1.6 l Smartstream develops 115 hp or 136 hp. Apart from the 1.0 l limited to the 6-speed manual transmission, all engines can be coupled to a robotic double-clutch and 7-speed gearbox. Subsequently, Kia will add a rechargeable hybrid engine to the XCeed.
