Isuzu Marks Merdeka With A Convoy Of 900 D-Max Pickups

The 2024 Isuzu Merdeka Convoy is the largest simultaneous parade of D-Max in the country to date.

While Isuzu may not be a Malaysian automaker, the Japanese marque and its owners still nevertheless know how properly celebrate one of our nation’s most important days. Such is as in a heartwarming display of unity and patriotism, a whopping 900 D-Maxes gathered this Merdeka to participate in this year’s Isuzu Merdeka Convoy.

From Alor Setar to Keningau, some 3,300 participants in the aforementioned 900 D-Maxes were gathered early in the morning at 36 Isuzu outlets around the country on the 31st of August 2024 (Saturday). These pickups soon then formed respective convoys that moved in unison points of interest within their region, with many letting the Jalur Gemilang proudly fly from their pickup beds.

And to further amp up this Merdeka celebration, various activities were later organised by Isuzu for the participants of this convoy across the nation upon reaching their respective final destinations. These activities included durian buffets, white water rafting, glamping, treasure hunts, picnics and many more.

The Isuzu Merdeka Convoy this year follows through on the success of the Merdeka Convoy 66 held last year, which was previously graced by some 600 D-Max pickups. As the largest-ever simultaneous parade of Isuzu D-Maxes in the country, this year’s convoy sought to bring owners together to celebrate the historical date in the country’s history.

“Through the success of the Merdeka Convoy 66, owners have voiced their satisfaction and eagerness to participate in similar outings that develop camaraderie among Isuzu D-Max owners hence we hope to continue developing such activities for our owners,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Shunsuke Okazoe.

Okazoe said this when he flagged off the convoy at the Indah Utara outlet in Alor Setar, Kedah where participants in 80 D-Max pickups headed out to the Tasoh Lake Resort in Perlis to enjoy the drive and a day filled with fun activities.

Isuzu just has recently launched a facelifted version of its D-Max locally back in May, which brought with it some minor exterior tweaks and more tech toys within. There are currently 8 variants of this newly updated pickup available locally, with on-the-road prices without insurance in Peninsula Malaysia ranging from RM 98,949.20 for the 1.9-litre Single Cab to RM 157,938.40 flagship X-Terrain.
