GWM Malaysia Saw A 331% Year-On-Year Sales Growth In 2024
This staggering local sales rise of GWM has been largely attributed to the popularity of its Haval H6 HEV.
While some brands may have been seen a slight slip in its local sales this year, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia however was not to be one of them. In fact, the Chinese automaker has recently revealed that its annual sales over here in 2024 has witnessed a staggering 331% year-on-year increase from 2023!
Now it is perhaps worth bearing in mind that this stratospheric sales growth likely has more to do with the fact that GWM Malaysia only had one model in its local lineup back in 2023, with that sole offering being the Ora Good Cat. This nevertheless should not detract from the fact though that the Chinese automaker has had quite a boom year over here in 2024, with the launch of 3 new models over the last 12 months.
The 3 models that GWM had debuted in Malaysia last year were the Ora 07, Tank 300 and Haval H6 HEV. The Haval H6 HEV in particular has proven to be the big hit for the Chinese automaker over here, with this locally-assembled electrified SUV already garnering more than 1,500 orders since its launch in October.
“Malaysian consumers have shown us that they value innovation, quality, and trust. This is a responsibility we take seriously, and we are committed to delivering products and services that exceed their expectations,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.
“We are excited to continue contributing to Malaysia’s automotive landscape while supporting the nation’s shift towards greener mobility. Our mission remains to serve Malaysians with dedication and excellence, ensuring that every customer experience reflects our commitment to quality and innovation. As the company drives forward, we remain dedicated to providing Malaysians with superior choices, ensuring an exceptional driving experience, and playing a meaningful role in shaping the future of mobility.”
Great Wall Motor’s success in Malaysia follows the general boom the Chinese automaker is experiencing currently, with it having sold 1.23 million cars overall in 2024. Overseas sales for the brand apparently surged by 43.39% to 453,141 units last year. The company’s leadership in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector was also evident, with the 321,795 NEVs delivered last year marking a 22.82% YoY growth.
With a strong foundation built on its 2024 success, GWM touts that it is set to introduce more models locally in 2025. Among the already confirmed arrivals over here in the next 12 months include the Tank 500 7-seat off-roader and the Wey 80 luxury PHEV MPV, which has previously been showcased at this past KLIMS 2024.
GWM Malaysia has further decided to kick off the new year by expanding access to vehicle ownership during the auspicious Chinese New Year season with the “Drive Into Prosperity” promotion. This exclusive campaign offers customers the opportunity to celebrate the festive season with exciting benefits, including 10,000 km of free travel mileage with every purchase of the Haval H6 HEV.
