GoCar Experience Is Malaysia’s 1st Extended Test Drive Scheme

Experience the GAC Aion Y Plus e-MPV for longer with this new programme from GoCar Malaysia.

For the vast majority of Malaysians, the car buying experience typically culminates in a short test drive. And more often than not, from having to familiarise oneself with the car and route, as well as making conversation with the sales person, barely anything of use regarding the car can actually be gained from this quick spin round the block.

This therefore sees many a car buyer to only properly experience their new multi-thousand ringgit liability for the first time once they take delivery of it, which does now sound like a wholly risky proposition once it is laid out like this.

Handily however, the newly launched GoCar Experience from GoCar Malaysia might actually be a solution to this problem. Such is that with under this first-of-its-kind extended test drive programme in the industry actually gives Malaysians the chance to take home and actually live with their prospective new automotive purchase for a few days, thereby providing a more realistic and comprehensive trial before they make a purchase decision.

The only car that is currently offered with the GoCar Experience extended test drive programme thus far is to be the GAC Aion Y Plus e-MPV, with rental rates for it starting at RM 399 for the three-day trial and RM 899 for the seven-day trial. Both options available include complimentary EV charging credit (RM20 for the three-day test drive and RM50 for seven days), which can be activated via the GoCar mobile app.

A security deposit of RM399 for both trial plans is required, which will be fully refunded within 7-14 working days upon returning the vehicle. But rather thoughtfully, the trial fee will also be fully refunded to those who decide to purchase.

This newly-launched GoCar Experience programme is currently only available at AION Petaling Jaya. Interested individuals can make bookings by visiting the showroom located along Jalan Kemajuan, or through the GoCar Experience website.

Bookings must be made 24 hours in advance. The vehicle can only be collected and returned at the AION Petaling Jaya showroom from Monday to Sunday, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm.

The programme is open to all Malaysian drivers aged 18 and above with valid driving licenses. Foreigners and expatriates with an international driving pass are also eligible.

“We are excited to offer an innovative new way for people to experience the electric lifestyle by test-driving the latest car models, starting with the all-electric AION Y Plus. Modern vehicles come with many advanced technologies and features that cannot be fully appreciated in a brief five to 10-minute test drive. Through GoCar Experience, prospective customers have more time to truly experience the vehicle in their everyday environment, allowing them to make a more informed decision on a significant investment,” said Wong Hoe Mun, CEO of GoCar Malaysia.

Launched locally this year, the new AION Y Plus is to be Malaysia’s first ever all-electric MPV. Two variants are currently available: Elite and Premium, with prices ranging from RM119,800 to RM135,800.

Key exterior design touches on the Aion Y Plus includes its Angel Wing LED headlights book-ending its rounded face up front, and a full width Skyline through-type LED light bar headlining proceedings round its rump. 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels are available on the Elite and Premium trims respectively, with both further accentuated by chunky wheel arch cladding to give the egg-shaped profile of this e-MPV a more SUV look.

Underpinning the Aion Y Plus meanwhile is GAC’s AEP 2.0 dedicated EV platform, with this entailing a single front-mounted motor on this e-MPV, fed by a 63.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type battery. Rated at 250 hp and 225 Nm of torque, the quoted century sprint time for this egg is a reasonable 8.5 seconds, with its maker further touting for the drivetrain to be ‘endowed with class-leading versatility thanks to the offer of up to four selectable driving modes that also includes an ‘i-Pedal’ single-pedal driving mode’.

Incidentally, those interested in the Aion Y Plus can head down to Aion Petaling Jaya this weekend (24-25 August 2024) to participate in a special event to further explore and gain a deeper understanding of this latest all-electric vehicle.

Open to the public, the event promises a range of exciting activities that includes the chance to participate in a “Book & Win” lucky draw, with a total of RM8,000 in prizes up for grabs. Early bird bookings will also be rewarded with exclusive giveaways such as RM 1,000 charging credits, a wallbox charger (without installation), a mobile theatre set or an outdoor adventure camping set.

Attendees can also participate in an interactive game challenge to win a special gift. To add to the fun, there will be free food and drinks from food trucks, making it a great outing for families and car enthusiasts alike.
