BMW Malaysia Launches BMW X7 SUV For RM888,800

BMW Malaysia today introduced their First-Ever BMW X7 with the signature tarmac munching grille. This new icon exemplifying the brand’s new definition of progressive luxury is where the luxury-class BMW Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is the leading case study in modernity, luxury and presence which sets a new benchmark in the luxury segment. With only the RM850,000 Lexus LX 570 SUV as its competitor, for now, it is interesting to see if any Bentley Bentayga buyers might decide to save some money and get this X7 instead as the X7 will command the same curb side respect in time.

The First-Ever BMW X7 blends lavish presence, exclusivity and spaciousness with the versatile and agile driving properties customers would expect from an SAV. The latest and largest model in the BMW X range features outstanding powertrain and chassis technology, offers generous levels of space in each of the three rows of seats, a luxurious ambience and advanced equipment features, to deliver an unparalleled driving and interior experience.

A new level of luxury and authority.

The exterior of the First-Ever BMW X7 features a bold and immaculate design. The massive front with the imposing kidney grille lends an exceptional road presence to the vehicle, along with the slender BMW Laserlight that can illuminate up to 600 metres ahead, cutting across for a stronger contrast. Available as standard also are the LED fog lights and high-beam assistant. The lower part of the front apron has a trim element that extends across the full width of the vehicle and frames the outer air intakes.

From the side, the near-vertical shoulder line visually elongates the First-Ever BMW X7 from the front to rear. Like the BMW 7 Series, it features a distinctive Air Breather with chrome elements. The large windows and long, dynamically flowing roofline of the vehicle hint at the spacious interior. The rear doors are longer than the front doors, further emphasising the spaciousness of the SAV’s rear compartment thus, making it even easier to get in and out. Equally striking is the 21-inch light alloy wheels in Y-spoke style 753 Bicolour with run-flat tyres which are included as standard.

With an increased ride height and a taller rear, the five-metre long luxury SAV features a width of 2,000 mm and a wheelbase of 3,105 mm. The ride height sits at 1,805 mm, exactly 60 mm taller than the BMW X5, giving the First-Ever BMW X7 an impressive visual presence. Atop the vehicle are also sporty roof rails in Aluminium Satin.

The rear view attracts attention to the size of the vehicle body, which is responsible for the enormous amount of interior space the vehicle offers. The upright rear silhouette is visually defined by slim, L-shaped, three-dimensional taillights. A chrome trim strip like that of the BMW 7 Series links the two light clusters. The wide-opening tailgate consists of two portions and comes with fully electric operation. The First-Ever BMW X7 features two large, rectangular tailpipes, one on each side, conveying its immense power.

Formidable engines, hallmark BMW dynamics.

The luxury SAV arrives in the BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence variant. Powering the luxury off-roader is a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with a maximum power of 250kW/ 340hp, and a peak torque of 450Nm. This results in a century sprint completed in 6.1 seconds. All of these are achieved with a combined fuel consumption of 9.5l/100km and a combined carbon emission of 217g/km.

Power is channelled to all four wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system of the luxury SAV maximises traction, agility and handling stability which links up with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) to provide the basis for effortless handling, whatever the road and weather conditions. In certain situations, the intelligent all-wheel drive’s responses have a rear-wheel bias, for a particularly dynamic driving experience.

The sophisticated chassis design of the First-Ever BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence includes a two-axle air suspension. This ensures the new luxury SAV provides superior ride comfort as well as the option to adjust the suspension by up to 80 mm, with five different height settings. The suspension’s air supply is controlled individually for each wheel using a remarkably quiet, electrically driven compressor with pressure reservoir, making it possible to balance out an unevenly loaded car. With the DSC system, the vehicle load registered by the air suspension sensors can also be factored into braking modulation.

The driver is also able to adjust the body’s ground clearance by pushing a button in the cockpit to raise or lower by 40 mm above or below the standard setting, for off-road driving or easy access to the luggage compartment. For the first time in a BMW X model, the First-Ever BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is offered with the innovative Executive Drive Pro with active roll stabilisation that provides an ideal combination of superior ride comfort and outstanding dynamics. The active anti-roll stabilisation reduces body movements and body roll in bends to a minimum. Ride comfort is further enhanced by the Dynamic Damper Control system, which is able to process data from the navigation system and front camera.

Luxurious interior design with integrated technology.

The interior of the First-Ever BMW X7 features the opulent “Crafted Clarity” handmade diamond-cut trim element that is beautifully incorporated to the gear selector, volume control, Start/Stop button and iDrive Controller. A magnificent cockpit marked by typical BMW driver orientation and a high seating position with impeccable all-round visibility are characteristic of a BMW X model. Equipment includes a sport leather steering wheel and electrically adjustable comfort seats with active seat ventilation in front. Fine-wood trim surfaces framed with electroplated accent trims on the instrument panel and centre console enhance the interior’s elegant aura.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System 7.0 ensures effortless control of vehicle functions. It combines the fully digital, user-configurable 12.3-inch instrument cluster with an equally large central Control Display with touchscreen functionality and a state-of-the-art user interface. With the instrument cluster now designed to display functions like navigation maps, this means the Control Display can take on an even greater amount of extended vehicle and infotainment functions. The BMW Head-Up Display is also located within field of vision. The luxury SAV also comes fitted with the voice-controlled BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that understands natural speech, assists in driving-related functions and answers questions about the vehicle. BMW Gesture Control is also available and now recognises and responds to seven different hand movements such as circling customer’s index finger clockwise to turn the volume up and swiping their hand to the right to reject a call.

Creating a luxurious, contemporary flair are the ambient lighting with the Welcome Carpet feature along with situation-specific lighting scenarios. These lighting scenarios include the Welcome and Goodbye, along with lighting upon door opening or incoming telephone calls. Other highlights include five-zone air conditioning, a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System with 16 loudspeakers and electric roller blinds for side windows. Another exciting new feature is the Rear Entertainment Professional system, whereby the two screens at the rear can now be operated by touch – providing equal entertainment for passengers seated at the front and in the rear.

The sheer spaciousness of the First-Ever BMW X7 is further enhanced by the large Panorama Roof Sky Lounge that also includes an LED lighting scenario. The luxury SAV features seven electrically adjustable seats as standard. The second-row seats can also be controlled from the driver’s seat. When ordered as a six-seater, the vehicle comes with two comfortable individual seats in the second row, enabling easier access for passengers to and from the third row.

The First-Ever BMW X7 also features soft-close function for doors. Behind, the luxury SAV has a versatile 325-litre luggage compartment that can be maximised up to 2,120 litres with the backrests folded down. The backrest in the second seat row has a 40/20/40-split for transporting bulky items and can also be split 60/40 for more convenient entry into and exit from the vehicle. Adding to the convenience, all seats can be completely folded down or brought back into their original positions at the touch of a button.

Advanced connectivity meets sporting luxury.

The First-Ever BMW X7 boasts a wide range of advanced driver assistance systems and connectivity services to maintain the Sheer Driving Pleasure of a BMW without taking away from the sporty experience. The BMW Personal CoPilot technologies include the Parking Assistant Plus with automatic manoeuvring in and out of parallel parking spaces, along with the Reversing Assistant to assist in safely manoeuvring out of a tight parking space.

The features of the Driving Assistant Professional are especially comprehensive. They include Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning and front collision warning with brake intervention. Lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection is also available, along with steering and lane control assistant, front and rear crossing traffic warning as well as rear collision prevention. Safety is maximised with Emergency Stop Assistant, Evasion Aid, and Crossroads warning with city braking function.
